Upgrading 05 audio system with SSL?
Upgrading 05 audio system with SSL?
I was looking to just drop in a better set of speakers now and then a head unit later on. At Circuit City then said with the factory setup I can't just drop in a different sub in place of the Infinity factory one. They said I would need a new amp and other stuff. Are they right? Plus which speakers can easily replace the front and rear factory ones? I would prefer to attemopt this myself. Thanks.
to put a deck make sure you get the mitah cable otherwise it won't work...speakers are just a swap in...as for the sub i don't think you really can put a diff one in place that will sound better as the factory amp is rather small and not enough to bump a larger sub...
So basically I have to ditch the factory amp and get one to drive the sub and new spealers I decide to get. Just not really into the audio scene and want my **** to be loud and clear with minimum dough spent.
do what i did i bought some pioneer premier kevlar speakers and a 480 watt amp and that's it i'm going off the stock head unit. I think it sounds great, it's not a competition sound system but it get's loud as Hell...

Anyways, to spend minimal $$$, just go for a simple 10 or 12 inch subwoofer (plus box) and a mono or 2 channel amp. A simple aftermarket stereo and basic replacement door speakers should be all you need. You don't even have to replace the rears to save a few extra bucks. You do not have to power your aftermarket door speakers with an aftermarket amp if you don't go and try to get some high end components. Some simple coaxials will work off the stock unit or aftermarket unit fine. Granted you will not have the most superior SQ (sound quality) but you will have better sound than stock.
If this is your first time with installing audio, be patient and follow directions. Get a friend and make a day out of it. It can be very rewarding to do yourself and you will find that it is not that hard if you are simply replacing stock components and hooking up an amp.

Unless you have an MR, your '05 won't have factory HIDs unless you have the SSL package.
I agree with the above. Start with a decent aftermarket HU and the stock speakers will sound MUCH better. I did that and I'm now getting together my amps and speakers so I can upgrade the rest in one big complete step. I'm not going to bother with just adding an amp and sub, or amping the stock speakers.
