Alarms Remote start

Was wondering if anyone had done a remote start on there car, i know that its not a good idea on manuals but was seeing if anyone had gotten away with and didnt have any problems or start up wrecks.

i have the viper 791xv on my IX MR for the past 9 months with no issues or problems...i've also had them on my sti for the past 3 years as well. just make sure you don't put it in gear and you'll be fine (just be weary of VALET parking---i've had a friend who remote started his car and the valet guy left the car in gear, lunging the car forward---luckily no person or car was in front of it at the time!)

Don't let DEI see that They would quite possibly take the dealership from whichever company installed it into a manual car if they are infact an authorized DEI dealer. We are the authorized dealers here in the Bahamas for DEI (which owns Viper) and it is really not allowed. I believe a child was struck with a car left in gear so they they are against it. In any event, there are ways around it like tapping the emergency brake wire which will only allow the car to remote start if the brake is up, bypassing the clutch so it doesn't have to be in to start etc but still isn't totally safe. One of my workers put remote start in his Suzuki jeep (he used a prestige with the remote start module) and tapped the brake wire and left the car in gear thinking it wouldn't move, and the jeep went through our new store's front glass!!! So he ended up having to replace the glass and fix his car(LOL). I had a good laugh If you do it, be careful...It only takes one time leaving it in gear

Interesting.... I still want a remote start and a Viper alarm too, since I hear it's the best.. I just got to get out of the habit of leaving the car in when I park...

i had this on my spec-v and Z, it also depends on where you get it installed, i had problems with the Z after a while cause they said that the case that holds the key inside the car was all ***d up (you need a spare key wich would be installed inside the car and left there for the remote start)... making it not work sometimes... so the car would keep trying and trying to start without succes until somebody steps on the brake and kills the start.

btw ive always had Clifford... which is the same shiet

Yeah...They also have bypass modules now that don't require you to have a key in the car in the bypass module to be able to read the chip. They have modules now that allow you to program 2 keys to the remote start module and that's all...No need for a spare sitting in the car.

Why do you even want remote start?

So your car is warm before you get it?

Ehhh .. waste of money, imo.

Why answer a question with a question!

Don't answer if you don't care!

You don't live where it is cold. They also have built in turbo timers. It is wise to preheat the car until the temp guage begins to move. Its not a waste of money for all your getting in the package. Security and convenience.

In the Bahamas, people installl remote starts to cool off the car before getting in. Also, you can buy the temperature controller that ties into any DEI system (eg Viper, Rattler etc.) that you can set the temp at which you want your car to turn on and cool/warm and even set specific times for the car to remote start if you are away to keep the battery up. Quite convienient for some

This question is a little , but is the CompuStar as good as the Viper alarm? I'm in the market for a good alarm, but I also would like a remote start feature as well... Any thoughts?
