mini battery capable of powering a sub?

Hey I was wondering if anyone out there is using the mini battery and running a system off of it. Not looking for anything too extreme, but I want to run a single sub maybe around 300rms max. Do you guys think this will be ok? I'll probably get a capacitator as well.

It should be but definately get a Cap as well, but 300rms is not a big sub at all.

Yes

and thats one reason you have capacitators

you can always run the system on its own battery/mini-battery.
my friend did that in his show car so that his car's battery doesnt die. lol

I was looking at getting 2 12s, 2 4-channel amps, and a mini battery. I also have a separate battery for the stereo though.

Still doable as a daily driver I wouldnt have to jumpstart or tow constantly?

The only concern you have with a mini battery and a sound system is when you run your system with your engine turned off. Otherwise, running the sub will be just fine. Also, if you don't drive your enough during the week, invest in a good battery conditioner to keep the charge in your minibattery intact.

Maybe it is just me but isn't the idea of having a mini battery to save on weight? If you are putting in an amp, cap, and a sub it doesn't seem like the weight savings is why you would have a mini battery. So out of curiosity why even use the mini battery? Just go with a full size one and not have to worry about it.
To answer your question I would tend to think it would shorten the life of the mini battery from the extra draw on it.

I agree with glgz.

But its also possible he needs a mini for those short uicp kits. In that case, I would relocate the factory batt to the back.

Kimletrim is also correct. A vehicles batt only does 2 things: Start the car and stabalize alternator ripple. If the vehicle is started, you shouldnt have any major issues. Do realize, the typical alternator already runs at a 80~85% duty cycle.. leaving very little for big amperage drawing amplifiers.

Additional batts and capcitors are bandaids to a failing charging system.

glgz, I have the mini battery for running the buschur uicp not to save weight. Thanks for the replies I think I'm just going to try it and if it takes too much out of the battery I'll buy another battery to stick in the back.

I have a mini battery, added two amps when I upgraded the stereo.
The sub amp is 350W RMS @ 2 ohms and the component amp is 65W RMS x 2.
I added a CAP later to help out with the bass hits, it definitely helped.
