Installing nav unit on Saturday.. need your help

I've searched quite a bit for the location and color code of the EVO IX's speed sense wire and backup light wire. I can't seem to locate this information. Can someone please tell me where I can find them, and what color they happen to be?

I do recall someone writing that the speed sense wire is black and yellow, and can either be accessed behind the glove box at the ECU, or at the OBDII connector port in the drivers footwell. However, I can't find that thread anymore, and I need to confirm.

Thanks in advance.

I'm going by 2005 data sheet, but the speed sense and reverse SHOULD still be the same, still make sure you test them. Speed sense is white/black or black/red at the Datalink connector (OBDII plug) and reverse is brown in the driver's kick in the harness to the rear. Hope this info is helpful

wow you posted that follow up while i was replying lol
the parking light wire should be available in the radio harness because anywhere else you're going to have a left and right wire. and parking brake is blue/red at the parking brake

Thank you so much. I was able to locate (finally) an ECU pin chart for the Evo 9. According to the diagram, the speed sense is now BK/YL. Regarding the reverse, can you clarify on its location? I'm not sure what you mean by 'driver's kick in the harness to the rear.'

I'm hoping the parking light wire is in the radio harness since turning the parking lights on or off also affect the OE radio's illumination. As for the parking brake, how can I access it? How easy would it be to remove the parking brake console?

Thanks again guys, I really appreciate it. I'm installing a JVC KD-NX5000 nav, and it will be my first time installing a headunit/nav on my own.

IIRC from installing my headunit last month, the illumination wire is orange in the radio harness.

^^^ thanks, saw that earlier today. I should be set with the wiring harness for the most part.

Just one last clarification if possible.. can anyone with an Evo 9 confirm that I can tap into the VSS wire at the OBDII port? I've read that it's either BLK/WHT or BLK/RD depending on year, or I can access it at the ECU using the BLK/YW wire. Is this still true for the Evo 9?
