new system questions..

so i just installed an Alpine 10" Type-R sub with a Kenwood KAC-8103D Amp. ive got it all hooked up and everything, im just looking for some advice to get it configured for best sound. can anyone recommend some good settings for nice clean bass. im not into crazy bass, i just needed SOME bass.

Im looking for the following info:
what should these be set at

on the AMP

Bass boost level control knob (reads from 0-18db)
LPF freakquency (40-200hz)
ISF (off_15hz_25hz)
Input Sensitivity ( 5 - .2 V)

on the headunit

Sub.W phase 0degrees or 180degrees
Sub filter (80hz_100hz_120hz)

thanks guys, any help would be appreciated, i do not know much about systems whatsoever.

Its going to vary with the way you think sounds good. I would do bass boost off, low pass at 80 or so to start, isf off, input sens(gain) at lowest, and listen. Slowly bring the gain up to where it sounds good from the drivers seat. If you can turn the filter off on the radio do so, let the amp filter out the frequencies. If needed, you can bring the bass boost up.

if i have the bast boost set on 0. there is no bass whatsoever. im only getting bass with it all the way up.

i had some issues with the install. The back of my jensen in dash dvd had rca cables for front and rear, but for the subwoofer it was a single blue rca cable. i used a y splitter to connect the rca's from the amp to the head unit. will this cause a problem.

also, when the volume reaches a certain point, the bass will stop. Even when the volume is not too high. if i get to about 70% volume it stops pumping bass.

Is the amp turning off when you turn it up? Turn the volume up until the bass is gone, then check to make sure your amp is still on, and not clipping. The y adapter will not mess with anything.

Double check the ground on the amp as well. Do you have multiple devices connected to the jensen amp turn on?

I will check to see if the power cuts off when the bass does.

The kenwood amp is the only thing that is wired to the jensen amp turn on.

The subwoofer had 2 options to wire it for 4 ohms or 8 ohms. it had these little wires that you wire over on the actual speaker for either the 4 or 8 ohm.

right now it is wired for 4 ohms
