If you want sound quality go with the w6v2, if you want loud the w7 is the way to go. The w6 retailed for $450 or so when I got it. The w7 was more.

Not at all - now. I bought some 3M spray adhesive and did what mitsu should have and glued the carpet to the cardboard cutout for the spare tire. No more movement.

Semi-show car

W7's are nice, definitely LOUD but are heavy, require alot of air space and carry a hefty price tag.

To be honest.... ive always liked the W3's. I ran them in pairs before and odd #'s and they sound great. Dual 4ohm voice coil, handle some power, arent crazy heavy and is a nice bang for your buck.

Amps... I love JL amps but they are pricey. I would probably look towards Kicker amps for something a bit cheaper if price is a factor. If not... have at the JL amps.

You mentioned you want a semi-show car. At least you're realistic about your budget, and it's in the right price range.

If you're set on JL as your brand (Looking for sponsorship maybe?), then you might as well go for the best, since you can afford it.

I'm basing this off crutchfield pricing. You will find it cheaper, but its good to have a worse case scenarion as far as budgeting goes
As far as gear goes:

(2) JL 13W7 Subwoofers $1100 Ea.
(2) JL 1000/1 Amps. $1000 Ea.

Spend the remaining money on an alternator upgrade, and a nice looking sub box.

I'm assuming you have speakers to match the system... Otherwise you will only hear the bass...

If not, then step down to a pair of 12W7, and use the difference to buy some JL VR series speakers and a JL 300/4 Amp.

On crutchfield that will send you over 5k, but again, you can find this same setup cheaper elsewhere.

youre better off with two 10" w6's than a 13 or 12w7

Itll hit just as hard and sound better and wont need as huge of an amp.

Those w7's have to be overpowered to get a crazy sound, i've read if theyre not overpowered but played loudly they die much quicker than they should.

JL is top of the line so no corners should be cut, once you get a JL system its the last thing youll ever buy. I've had my 12" 12w6s and 1000.1 amp for 7 years now and has never failed me.

Cheers!

4WS,
Agreed that the W6's (Especially the W6v2) are a great value for their price range. Having heard a properly powered W7 vs a W6 (Can't recall if v1 or v2) there is a difference, especially towards the lower (sub 30Hz) frequencies.

The W6 is a great performer, and probably a better value than the W7, but on an absolute scale, the W7 is just plain better.

Given MumeiEvolution's budget he's sparing no expense, so he might as well go top of the line. Besides that, the W7's have a great show factor. I love enclosures with inverted W7's, because those subs are extremely beefy the look very badass....
