wiring gauges to a switch

hey guys, im gonna be installing some gauges this weekend. All 3 are going on the A pillar, im wondering if i can pick up a little toggle switch from autozone and wire the gauges through that. A pillar gauges are sometimes a distraction and id like to be able to just flip a switch to cut them off when im just cruising around at night and do not need to monitor them. if thats possible, how does that wiring usually work. do you wire the main power and ground to the switch and then from switch to power and ground of car?
thanks.

Like Buddha said, just wire the power for all switches to a toggle if that's what you're looking for. Off = no lights, On = gauges up. You won't be able to see em at night with the power off anyway.

no no no fail.

Wire the switch inline with the ground for the gauges. You never want to switch power when not absolutely needed.

I just purchased some gauges and i would like to turn the lights off at night by wiring in a switch. I only want to turn the lights off not the entire gauge. Can any one elaborate on this a little more?
