After further research I found that I would be better to go with the 9885 as it has 3 sets of 4 volt preamp outputs as opposed to 2 volt preamp outputs. Those extra 2 volts will come into play when you install an amp. In theory the music should sound more crisp. Plus like I stated earlier the main buttons on the deck which appear to be blue are switchable between blue and red so it matched my interior perfectly. I can try to post some pics if you would like me to.
Thanks and a pic would be awesome.

I'd go with the Alpine ida x001

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-JpbBv5d...x?i=500IDAX001

You can switch between Red or Blue lights, change screen or download you're own from the website!

No cd though, but mp3 FTW!!

I have this apline installed on my SSL evo, let me know if you have questions, if you order from crutchfield you wont need any adapters (it will come with). Also, if you want pictures let me know I'd be glad to post some.

How did you change all the lighting? Was it difficult? Where did you get the lights? How long did it take you? Do you have any pics?

I assume your talking about changing the dash lighting not the lighting to the deck. The deck colors are switchable through the options screen. As for the dash lighting I just did my research on this forum. There are a couple of different write ups which were very helpful. I used parts of probably 4 different write ups and also used some of my own ingenuity to complete the task. I worked on my dash in stages starting with the hvac controls first. I used bulb condoms which i purchased at pepboys. Some paint the bulbs and some buy the bulbs already red. Im sure they both work fine, however if you would like your climate controls to not be completly red I would recommend using the bulb condoms. That was the only tricky part of the modification as the condom needs to cover only part of the bulb so the other half will stay blue. An extra set of hands is always helpful. For the clock I ordered a "red filter" from Z_Lancer_Man Overall everything came together fairly easy. Like I said there is a ton of info here on this forum. I think i searched red hvac or something like that. If you have a specific question about something I would be more than happy to help you. Its a great mod as its cheap and you will be happy with the end result. I will snap some photos tomorrow for you.

I'm not looking to have subs or anything. I just want a nice HU, upgraded speakers and an amp.

Should I not go with the 9884 if this is my plan? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't mind spending the extra money on the 9885, but really liked the red of the 9884.

I ended up purchasing the Alpine 9885 from crutchfield.com. I couldn't pass up the price.

$249.99/shipped which includes free adapter (plug&play), free i-pod adapter and free shipping plus $50 pricecute.

I'll post up some pics when it gets here in the next few days.

Appreciate all your guys help.

My gauges are actually not factory. I bought the car with them already installed like that. They are VDO and I actually see an ad for them sometimes at the top of this forum if your interested. They came red. The HVAC controls and cig lighter i used bulb covers like i stated earlier. Lastly for the clock i used the red filter from Z_Lancer_Man.
