Fuel Level Sender Tech Question

Does anyone know how the fuel level sender(s) and the fuel level gauge in the cluster operate?

Does the sender put out a 0-5volt signal to the gauge? Maybe a 0-1volt? Or is it resistance based? Or maybe current based?

I'd appreciate the help. I'm trying to build a bar gauge for fuel.

I'm sure it's voltage related. There is float on the fuel tank basically float top of the fuel which probably send different resistance to change the voltage sending to the fuel gauge to tell how much. Can't really tell you if it is 0-5v or 0-1v but if i have to guess it will be 0-5v since i think only 0-1v is o2 sensors & most of them are 0-5v
