Underseat Subwoofer just installed
I used to own a WRX and I loved the fact that there was an underseat subwoofer. Granted, it didn't sound that great, but I loved the fact that it was out of the way and didn't take up any usable space. So, I looked for some underseat subs and stumbled upon the Kenwood KSC-SW10. The dimensions worked and it got decent reviews so I figured I'd give it a try. Found one brand new for just over $120 shipped online which is a great deal seeing as how crutchfield sells it for $250.
Anyway, just installed it and even though it's not that loud or powerful, it gives a nice crisp bass thump that doesn't rattle the car, yet gives music that much needed feel. I'm very pleased with my purchase. I don't recommend it if you're a real audiophile who wants a competetion sound system. If you're simply looking for some more in the bass hits while not filling up your trunk though, this may be the thing for you. Here are some pics.

I'm sorry that you paid money for that, but I'm glad you like it.

I'm sure this will be a nice option for some guys who want to keep weight down and space is important to them. Good find!

I feel the same way as LayinLo. If you like it great. I personally wouldn't get it and would explore a true shallow depth sub in a lightweight custom made box with a small mono amp. Given that the enclosure looks like it is plastic, I wouldn't be surprised if a shallow depth sub in a custom made wood or fiberglass enclosure sounded better too.
EDIT: I just noticed that this is a 5x7 speaker? How does that qualify as a subwoofer? I'd have a hard time believing this could effectively hit anything less than 50hz and not have a steep drop off from 80 hz on down which imho is what qualifies as a subwoofer. I can see this as potentially being okay for midrange fill, but to really give the bottom end some "oomph", there are better options out there for not much more money. Just my opinion. Again, if you like it, great. It is your stereo so what you like may not be liked by others, but truly comes down to what you like.

Again, it isn't for everybody. It definitely doesn't give the 'oomph' that some may be looking for. It isn't meant for heavy thumping or such. For that, I definitely recommend getting a real 10" or larger subwoofer enclosed in an MDF box mounted in the trunk and powered by a seperate amplifier. I was looking for something that doesn't take up a lot of space, that is relatively lightweight, and gives enough low end to where I can feel the music through my body. I feel that I got exactly what I wanted for a reasonable price so I'm happy. Just wanted to let the EvoM community know about this "subwoofer".

I don't remember exactly which store I bought it from but it was through Amazon.com Marketplace. I found it using Yahoo shopping. I tried to find it again right now and I can't find it. Maybe the specific store that I got it from sold out. I am out of town right now but when I get home, I'll take a look at the box to find the info on the store I got it from.
