Window Armor to prevent smash & grabs

It seems that Evo's are prone to smash & grab thefts. I have been looking into a laminate product that significantly impairs access to your car when someone breaks a side window.

Anyone have experience with this?

I've seen laminates for home and office, but interesting idea for your car.

Pretty cool. I wonder how much it costs?

It is a clear film that is very thick (3 ply) I think. The film has some UV blocking abilities, but zero heat rejection. It is not the easiest film to see through as well. I would probably use regular window film if you want to slow down someone breaking in.

^^besides the post above

The down side i see is that in the event of roll overs, breaking the window and pulling you out or crawling out would be harder.

Not really a downside... Auto glass is designed to break into small cubes. Window film just holds it all together. Pushing it out of the way is the only effort will be needed.

If that's the case then I would easily say that this will not help to deter theft. It will just delay them a bit more but that's it.. so why are we buying this again.? It seems more for safety than anything.

I bet it won't really work. I had a car with window film on the side windows and they still broke in and stole stuff. They used a metal punch to break the glass, but then they just pulled the entire shattered window out. If someone wants something in your car, they will find a way.

There is another manufacture that makes some theft proof glass for home. They took a baseball bat to it and the bat broke before the glass even cracked. It makes the glass 4-5 times stronger. So when somebody is having to beat the hell out of all your windows to try to break it, somebody is alot more likely to notice. I would be scared though seeing how hard it is to break, If you need to break out a window, you would be screwed.
