making headlight air duct. working with foam and fiberglass.
ok so ive been watching youtube videos on how to make custom fiberglass and CF parts, and it doesnt look all that hard.
i went out to the crafts store today and bought some foam to start sculpting into a mold for a headlight air duct. my question is this:
this foam that im using is very porous, and doesnt really seem suitable for fiberglass or cf layup. what kind of coatings are out there that a DIYer like myself could coat the foam with once i have it in the correct shape? is there some kind of resin or plastic coating that i could put on this foam?

jus tin case anyone eer searches on this, i ended up using masking tape, then i used fiberglass, and then i waited 24 hours and pulled them apart. acetone is used for disolving foam.
just ran across this thread. i use reynolds wrap, 'tin foil', to cover whatever i use to make shapes. it seperates from the fiberglass really easily once dried, for the most part. a light sanding will get the rest and it's cheap. just an idea. good luck with what you are making.
