Need Help?! Factory Security System
I have a 2003 Evo and i'm wondering if it has a factory security system on it? i can tell that there is a light for the security system on my gauge cluster its a car with a key in the middle of it but when i lock my car it doesnt flash green like its suposed to and when i lock my car and leave the window down and unlock it the alarm doesn't go off? so im wondering if there is a fuse somewhere thats blown or if my car even came with a security system...please help!

Security systems are easy to install i have a thread do it and door locks on my RS.
never count on a factory alarm system to protect your car.its a small investment to get a quality alarm to protect your vehicle.i have a viper and have had good service out of it.make sure when you get it that they dont set it up too sensitive.if so it will be going off all the time and no one will take notice when someone is actually breaking into the car.also you will do well to have it installed by a chain store with a good warranty so when it gives you problems you will be gauranteed good service.
I would steer clear of the chain stores (BB, CC) except for maybe tweeter. They're just going to throw it in the dash wherever's convenient which will be easy for someone to find and rip out. If you have any kind of electrical knowhow/experience, you should do it yourself. It's kind of intimidating at first, but Evos/Lancers are really easy to put alarms into, especially if you're not doing remote start. Plus you'll be the only one that knows where it is and you can spend a little extra time blending the wiring in with your factory wiring.
