Alarm suggestions
After reading on here I found out that Evos don't have real alarms just keyless entry
. Even though I park in a garage I'd like to get an alarm soon. Any suggestions on what brands to go for? I'm not the best at electrical stuff so I'll have to get it installed at a store. I'm not looking to spend $700 for some super GPS tracking unit but a decent one with windows sensors and such. I really doubt I'll getting a turbo timer again so I don't need one that works with one. (stupid accident on old car where parking brake was going and clipped other DD car >.>).
What do you mean by window sensors and such? It's going to pretty quickly get into the $700 range by adding stuff for "window sensors and such".
DEI (Viper, python, hornet, clifford) pretty much owns the alarm market so, more than likely you're going to end up with a version of them. If I remember correctly, you're probably going to be spending around $300 for a basic alarm installed.

compustar comes into mind when you think about manual tranny evo's. it has "reservation mode" that will not start accidentally and hit the other car. it will not remotely start period, unless you the "mode." search this forum about compustar and the window sensors are just add-ons which can be perimeter, shock or wired sensor whichever you prefer. I got the perimeter sensor for its easy install.
The best advice I can give you is finding a basic system that has a peramiter sensor that can detect in a certain area of the car. It's basic, and should be under $700, we install them on Jeep Wranglers or any car that is convertiable. If you have any questions contact me anytime.

look for an dei viper 791xv or a python 990 (these are remote starts too!) or anything on those side, you should be able to get one pretty cheap, i just sold my 791 for $200 on ebay, and ask anyone, it is an amazing system!
Thanks for the replies. Well I went to Best Buy to see what they have. I got a $200 giftcard to there today for buying my car (took them a while to send it out...). Found a Viper system for about $300 installed plus like $40 for a truck popper install. I forgot the stupid model number already but it's seemed like an ok 2 way system. Best Buy isn't my location of choice but I have $200 to burn there and with xmas coming up I need to save my money for presents. I said I'll think about it but I'll probably go ahead and do it. I couldn't find anything else I wanted except a new head unit that they have but I found it for about $70 cheaper online anyway and I can get that later.

Anyway....stay away from BB install if you can. Kept seeing jackass employees checking out and hanging around my car
4.75 hours to install an alarm AND they lost my 2nd remote and they have to order another one now. Little fishy to me. I made sure that my garage door opener and house keys were not in the car during install. Never going there again. Only went since I had $200 to burn. Viper 771VX alarm is what I got. Decent mid level. Has a turbo timer and such on it but I don't know if it works for manuals. Manual just says it can be programmed for all these features but doesn't say a damned thing on how to do it. I read the entire thing.

NO PROGRAMMING NECESSARY - its already a pre-setting
DO THIS: when vehicle is running, before you take the keys out, press and hold the * and aux at the same time until you hear a little noise, after that turn your keys like you want to turn off your car, and if everything is set up fine, you should have yourself a turbo timer. runs for 1 min

if you would need to program anything, it would be in the installation guide, a white little book that comes with the system, installers tend to take them away from customers because they usually dont know how to program it themseves, and you might end up changing settings that you never intended on. that and if you mess with the settings, technically you void your bby warranty. (you would also need to know where the valet switch is installed in your car to program your system)

Do the Viper 5900 or the new 5901...Very nice and have the SST 1 mile range!!! The 5901 is a little costly but the remote is much easier to use and 300 times better looking!!! Both have Turbo Timers built in and are very easy to activate!!! Good Luck!!!

4.75 hours doesn't seem to be too bad, especially if they hooked up the remote start. They would have had to bypass the clutch, which they probably didn't know how to do off the top of their head. Did they install RS?
You'll pretty much get people checking out your car anywhere you go. Hell, I still get it at the dealership from time to time.
No RS. They refused to do it on manuals. No biggie but would have been nice to start the car up at work (work on 3rd floor) and just be able to jump in and go while at work.
I got a 2nd remote but the pads are wrong. Aux is unlock and Lock/unlock is lock. I got the manual online and it does come with a 1-way remote, which was missing.
