My double din doesn't fit flush either, and I keep reading to re-adjust the radio brackets. I just don't want to "trial and error" the stock radio brackets. Does anybody have specific guidance as to how to readjust the radio brackets specifically?

I just answered my own question. The stock hole location sets the unit tilted up, protruded, and high.

To make it fit flush, I drilled another hole that is about 1/4 inch below and behind the stock hole location on the bracket anterior hole. I also only used this hole to attach the screw to the double din unit, to make it easier to tilt down.

*Disclaimer: I cannot guarantee that this will work for other double din units, but worked for my Kenwood, so do it wisely.
