Sunroof wont move?? Not the bolts, already checked!

So my sunroof refuses to move anywhere. I removed the headliner thinking it was the loose bolt problem that others have had in the past. Turned out empty handed. All 3 bolts were tight as they could get.

Heres how the problem started;

I leave my sunroof open all day, leave for work around 5pm and get to work then go to close my sunroof. It goes all the way till about 2 inches from closing completely. After that, it sounds like the motor/gears skip like 3 times. So I move it all the way open again and try closing again, same thing, gears skip. I ended up having to take out the motor out and manually pulling the glass forward to get it in the "closed" position. After I got it there and reinstalled the motor, I pressed the "pop up" button on the sunroof to make it prop up and the driver's side will come up a little but the passenger's side will not move. Just sounds like those gears are skipping. It will not slide back either. Just sounds like gears are skipping. Kinda tries to move but no luck.

Anyone experienced anything like this before??? Do I need to take it to the dealer and have them check it out or what?? Thank you for any help!

I had a similar problem. Check the track to make sure there isn't anything in there that is blocking it(a computer aerasol spray works great) and spray some type of lubricant to help a little.I found a little piece of a twig and it made the thing sqeek like hell and stopped it form going all the way back. Also did you completely unhook the motor or just unscrew it. What happened when mine did that it kept going back and forth. I'm sure you've read the other thread about how to fix it so you know that the computer has to reprogram the resolutions and get everything synchronized. So try unhooking the batter then hooking the motor back in screws and all after you have sprayed out the tracks and lubricated them then see how that works.
Also when you put the motor back in the motor is at the right position that the roof is in.(i.e. if the sunroof is all the way back then the motor is in the fully open position)
Hope that helps.

Yeah. This sounds totally like a self-fix. I think you may have just re-installed the motor/slide the glass without them lining up as they should.

I managed to get this right on the first try but it's very easy to not have things lined up/setup like they need to be. I left my headliner off for like 2 weeks just to make sure I didn't foul up anything.

it's like the 'arm' that raises and lowers it will not move on the passenger side.. when i push the button in to raise it, the driver's side moves up but the passenger side wont move at all. it's weird..

Has anyone had a problem with the sunroof only going forward 2 inches at a time and so you have to keep clicking the button and when you want it to go back you have to hold it and it doesn't stop itself unless you let off the button?
