Sunroof problems

I have a small problem with my sunroof.
My car was in the garage for the whole winter when I started detailing it last year before the winter kicked in I opened the sunroof so I would not have to worry about the seals when I was buffing/polishing/waxing the roof. With the weather and temperature more permiting I was finally able to finish the detailing job but was left with the small problem.
When I open the sunroof it opens without any problems, but when I try to close it it moves only 2 inches and stops, I have to press the button again to move it another 2 inches and it stops again, and all the way until the roof closes. Another thing is, when I try to press the tilt button in the sunroof, it does not work. I understand that I had to be in the close position to use it, and when I'm at that position it still does not open. It only tilts when I push the button like I would to close the roof (forward motion). It's kind of strange, it never did that before. I had the battery disconnected several times when the roof was open but I don't think this should affect anything. Anybody experienced this problem before??
One more thing, is it ok to charge the battery while all the positive and negative terminals are attached to the battery??

condensation inside the control unit of the sunroof?
the "closing 2 inches at a time" part might be attributed to lack of lubrication on the rails....but button acting weird, and tilt function messing up seems like an electric problem most likely due to condensation.

I had issues similar to yours (not weather related) and the dealer said some screws had loosened and were preventing the sunroof from opening/closing. They simply tightened them down and I was all set......see if that is the case on your end.

i believe u can get to the unit partially if u remove the front dome light.
but i would think to fully investigate the problem u should take the whole roofliner off.

I have the same problem:

When I open the roof then try to close it the roof only moves like 2 inches then stops, so I have to keep playing with the switch to get the roof closed.

I live in FL and my car is outside. I dont think it is a lack of lubrication because when the sunroof does move it moves freely (not slow like it is stuck)

I was guessing that it was a bad sunroof switch?????

Check your owners manual. I don't recall exactly what you have to do, but there is a procedure in there for fixing this.

If you can open your sunroof, look down into your car from the outside, you will see black screws...these might be loose....that was my problem i tried explaining in my earlier post.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I will look for that as well.

Just to be clear the sunroof works but is does not work the way it should be. It opens normally, but when I try to close it, it moves only 2 inches and stops. I had to repeatedly press the close button until the roof reaches the home position. On top of that if I don't stop it in time it will go past the stopping/closing point and start tilting the glass, and tilt button does not work.
