Does anyone know where to hook up the remote cable on the stock stereo, it the last thing i have to find to finish the sound system set up, can i hook it up to the antenna somehow? that way when i turn on the radion the amp comes on!?!? any advicce would be great diagrams would be bettter

 

You should buy an Evo first kid.

You can't hook up a remote to the stock stereo.
A remote switch for an amp is tapped into the aftermarket headunit(blue wire).

Like the last poster said there is not a special remote on the stock CD player on basically any car.

BUT.. All that remote wire is, is a low current 12 volt signal that is switched with the radio or accessory. So you can find a spot in your fuse panel that is switched and connect it to that. Or you can run it from your 12volt accessory outlet (cigarette lighter socket) and i don't mean by plugging something into it more like running the wire to the connection on the back. This should work fine because this is just a reference signal to turn the relay or solid state switch in the amp to turn on. It gets its actually power from the larger gauge cable (red and black). So you shouldn't have to worry about melting any wires and creating huge problems for you due to too much current running through such a small wire.

But honestly if your spending money to get an amp and a sub or aftermarket mids and highs you might as well get a new head unit to you can fine tune your audio and gain settings as well as connect tings the way they were meant to be!

thanks! we didnt even think about that! yah so to turn on the amp we would have to push the cigarette lighter in? bc with the antenna idea we dont have to do ****! but yeah its a small gauge blue remote wire.

 

Ok let me try to be a little more clear with this.

You dont want to connect it to a cigarette lighter "plug"

What you will need to do:

-Your going to have to pull that little ash tray out that is to the left of the lighter socket.

-Then you need to gain access to the wire that connects to the CENTER pin on this socket. There should be a little kind of connector that plugs into the back of the socket (you cant see this normally) its on the back side of the center console.

-There will also be a connector that clips to the outside or "lining" of the socket. This is chassis ground not +12VDC.

-So splice your blue REM wire to the wire/connector that goes to the center of the socket (again in the back) and plug the connector back in.

-Run this wire back to your amp under the center console and under the floor carpeting or mats if you dont feel like doing that. Avoid running power wire/cable and your RCA audio cable in parallel with each other or at least right next to each other. You could get extra noise and hums etc. Its just good practice to do this.

EDIT: Oh btw the antenna wire does not have any actually voltage nor will it do anything to help your REM wire work properly. Unless its a power antenna which the evo doesn't have and even then it really wont help you. It would prob just turn on your amp until your antenna was fully extended then turn off.
