I used my Escort Redline for one month before getting nabbed with laser. Fortunately, it didn't land me a ticket. It did help me realize that, for me, going 10+ mph over the speed limit is not worth the stress of worrying about laser, instant-on radar, cameras, etc. I've had it unplugged for the past 2 weeks and couldn't be happier. It seems like the best solution for the worried speeder is a V1 and laser interceptor augmented with trapster or the like. I just don't see it being worth the hassle for me. Maybe I'll change my tune the next time I get a ticket for going 7mph above the speed limit.

I wish I could use one, I'm stuck in Virginia where they are illegal. I can't wait to transfer out of this state!

if the radar detector is going off, then they are clocking you, simple as that. its not going to go off unless a radar pulse hits it so it doesn't take a braniac to know that if your radar/laser detector is going off then they got you.. the only reason to get one of these is if you can get a jammer and put it in your bumpers but if your going 95 in a 35 i'm sure there is no way to get out of that ticket

Well I see the jist of your point but its not entirely correct (with reguards to radar not laser).
You can mask yourself during a radar trap if other cars are in front of you, wheather it be a mile or less; that would mean that the cop is fireing the radar gun in your general direction but aiming at someone in front of you. Your detector picks it up and you get a chance to slow down. Thats the only way you can use a detector effectively with the use of instant on radar, for as you said, and in fact if you are the only one on the road and the cop fires the radar at you, well you're toast!
Laser is another story because of its narrow beam. The cop aims the beam at you pulls the trigger and you're toast, unless ofcourse you have the laser jammer which in effect will dispurse the returned beam to a point so that you have time to slow down.
Back in about '03 there used to be the only radar jammer available that worked (all others did not)! This was because it was an "active" jammer and was called the 'scorpion'. It sold for $600 and incorporated two remote sensors in the front grill ( one for X and one for Y radar). Later they made it to jam Ka. This was very soon removed from the market as is broke all FCC regs it being an active device. In testing it worked very well down to about 300' from the fireing radar gun after which the gun started to register the correct speed. What it did was, when it received the radar beam it scambled it and sent back rubbish to the gun, herin lays the term active! All other detector/jammers are passive.
Now you cant find anything about the Scorpion, it was even illegal to sell it!

Wish that i had bought one way back when

V1 for sure. I will say that I believe detectors are getting more and more obsolete.
