Door Panels...have you done it?

Hey guys. I am in the process of recovering a set of door panels and have come to the conclusion that they are heat pressed in. This meaning, the insert itself does NOT come out. Now i have an idea of what i want to do, and thats basically wrap them behind the existing one. But, i was wondering if anyone else has done this themselves and found a different way? I could probably also "cut" the door panel insert out, and then reattach it...just dunno if i wanna go through all that for it.

was gonna suggest cutting it with a exacto knife to then spray glue the new fabric on ive did this before on older cars because i didnt care if i messed it up but i dont think it will look bad if you put the new fabric over the old fabric plus youd have more cushion then for your arm to lay against
