are you talking about the output wires? make sure they are connected to output and not input

If you have the factory amp setup, then you need the correct wiring harness.
Metra 70-7003 (70-7004 is the same as well)

That adapter allows the ground, constant, accessory, dimmer, etc wires to come from the more 'traditional' adapter.

The smaller round plug adapter has RCA low level inputs that need to come from your aftermarket stereo, as well as the blue remote wire.

Most quality head units have a low level out, fronts, rears, subs, etc. so that is simple, if your head unit does not, you'll need basically a line converter to take a speaker level output (from your aftermarket stereo) and turn it into a line level output, to plug into those RCA jacks for that adapter.

If you didn't get the 2nd adapter (small round one) then you'll probably need to pick it up seperately, if it is offered that way, I'm not sure. I just bought mine for $9 shipped for the both adapters.Does that clear up your confusion?

See the bolded text from my original post for you timmycat.

Something like this should solve your issue.. taking high level (speaker) outputs from your head unit, and turning them into low-level outs.. so basically.. from aftermarket stereo.. to this converter... to the RCA plugs from the above-mentioned harness... to the existing plug that routes to the factory amplifier. Clear as mud?
