Help with an '03 SSL head unit install

Hey guys, I'm completely new to working on the stereo so I've been going through all the threads search can find for me. I still can't come up with a straight answer though.

I have an '03 with the SSL package, my cd player busted and the gf bought me a sony to replace it (so it has to go in ). All the threads I have seen are talking about RCA cables and adapters but when I pulled mine apart I didn't see anything like that. I am guessing that there is a difference between mine and newer units?

I would like to keep all my stock stuff working if possible, if not I suppose it'll give me reason to upgrade later. Is there a harness adapter that'll work for me? I have a strange adapter already that has all white wires stuck between the stock harness (with the different color wires) and the stereo. I could get a picture if that would help. I'm hoping other people have run into this before and can lend a hand.

The above post should be sufficient, but if you need anything else let me know. I've got an 04 SSL and I installed an AVIC Z2 into my car and maintained my stock stereo and sub.

Thanks for the quick responses guys

ok so your factory radio uses a sperate amp mounted under the drivers seat. so you have a round muti pin plug that sends the signal from the head unit to the amp. in order to use an after market amp you have to be able to send the signal to the factory amp. the connector with the rca's will plug into the after market sony head unit you have and then plug into the factory amp plug. the other plug will connect to the rectangle plug that supplys power, you will need to connect the black, red, yellow, blue, and orange wires. i think the sony has more than one blue wire. make sure it is the amp turn on wire. the antenna wire with turn you amp off if you lessin to a cd.
