Installing Pioneer 6800MP

Ok, So I have done TONS of searching on here and I just want to make sure that I have all the right info before I start dismantling stuff. I have a IX SSL with the stock infinity in the SSL. I purchased a Pioneer 6800MP last fall from Best Buy, via Gift cards, so it cost me like 50 bucks after all was said and done. I also got the ipod adapter for it for another 50. So from all the searching I have done, and the info I have gathered, I purchased a MITAH cable and Mistu harness from discountcarstereo this afternoon and that stuff should be here by the middle to end of this upcoming week. So this is going to be my game plan--

Take off the knobs, take of the interior piece, unscrew the screws holding the infinity radio in place, then at this point is where I think I have everything covered, basically now I'm going to match up colors and put in the harness and MITAH cable into my RCA connections (which there are four + 2 in the back of the pioneer HU, the two for front, two for rear, and then also two for subwoofer output), hook up my ipod adapter piece, ground, antenna......and I think that should be it, correct? I havent done any of this on the EVO yet, so I just dont want there to be any wiring surprises. I have installed a couple of stereo's before, but on my other cars it was straight forward, ie no subs or amps. So after all that is set, turn on car, make sure it works and pop everything back in place....that should be all correct? Is there anything I'm missing before I do these steps?? I sure as hell wasnt going to let the best buy high school kids try this to my car, too many horror stories. Thanks guys

Sounds straight to me. Just beware with the dimmer and illumination wires. One is orange and the other is orange with a white stripe. Only one gets connected and make sure its the right one or else you'll be changing a blown fuse or two.

Dont bother with the dimmer wires. Just cap them off. I do this on every stereo I install (thousands!)

what's the advantage in capping them off, would it matter?

I believe most BestBuy and CircuitCity stores just cap them off because if the wrong orange wire is used, fuses pop. Its less of a headache and saves time to just cap them off and not use them at all. By not using them, your radio won't illuminate or dim (depends on the vehicle) with your parking light activation. It doesn't really affect the operation of the radio and is more of a convenience.

Aftermarket radio's like to see 12volts come into the radio when you turn the lights on.

I feel this dims the lights to much and Evo's are technically bacwards. The more you dim the lights the voltage goes up on the factory wire.

Plus, it is a pain if someone does not like it after the fact and Pioneer has a dimming feature in the startup menu.
