Looking At a Bazooka Tube

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a Bazooka Tube off of Ebay. I already have a Pioneer head unit and I already have wiring and Dynamat in my trunk from the previous owner. I just want some clean and crisp bass not that nasty trunk rattling distorted kind.
Would you suggest getting an 8" or a 10". Does anyone have any experience with these subs? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Go with an 8 inch bazooka and a small amp. its good enough to make listening to music enjoyable.

It sounds to me in your description you want sq (sound quality), not loud but accurate. Bazooka will add more depth to your listening but, dont go any bigger than 8 or youll get more distortion

I have owned 3 bazooka tubes thru the years. A bazooka tube will not give you clean crisp bass. It will fill in the lows, and I got them because they are light. I didn't think the 8 inch was powerfull enough, i recommend the 10 inch.

I would recommend a 10" with a good amp. Proper settings on an amp will get rid of distortion just because you turn the gain up and it hits harder doesn't mean it'll sound better. You already have a headunit to help you change your subwoofer pre-out settings so your in good shape!

Thanks for all the advice guys. Looks like I'll be going for the 10". I don't know much about car audio but I'll learning slowly. I'll propably just be messing with settings for the first couple od weeks until I get the bass I want.

Are there any basic settings that apply to your generic sub setup?

I am not a fan of the bazooka tubes, As others have said, they really don't give the crispness needed for clear sound. They will make a "BOOM" sound if you're going for that, but if you want the clarity, you will need to go with something else. If you are worried about space/weight, you can go with Pioneer's new slim mount subs. They don't require much space (and therefore a smaller/lighter box), they are clear, but they don't have much power... they are good for someone that just wants to add a bit more range in their music. If you want to go crazy, then you go with larger, heavier boxes, or go with some fiberglass enclosures like listed in my signature.

DO NOT BUY A BAZOOKA.

Just buy an old JL 10" sub, and a sealed cubic foot box and cheap alpine mono amp. A little more $$ but 10x the quality.

I agree. But if your money is tight its not a horrible option. It will fill in some of the low tones.
