I have an Alpine IDA-305 installed in my 05 w/ssl package. Everything was working fine until yesterday when the speakers randomly stopped working. My headunit works fine but I have no sound from the speakers. I have a 12hr drive to make in 4hrs, any insight?

 

Sounds like you either have a ground issue or a wire that got pinched. Sorry, I know that's not much help but it's hard to diagnose electrical issues like this in a hurry.

 

Those units have had a lot of problems with the internal amp going bad. Unfortunately your not really going to be able to do much without taking it out and testing the speaker outputs/checking the rest of the wiring.

 

You say randomly,

Was anyone messing with the radio when it stopped? It could be a setting if so.

Were there any intermittent signs prior such as music cutting in and out? Harness issue...

Or did it just quit? If so it is likely the unit itself.

Nobody messed with it. and there was no signs of it cutting out or anything like that. i pulled the headunit out and checked every wire. It all seemed fine. im really confused now. Maybe its the factory amp under the seat? can anyone shed some light on that? does it have a fuse in it?
