Upgrading factory speakers and small subwoofer?

So I'm wanting to upgrade the factory door speakers and add a small subwoofer. Just want something with decent sound quality. As for the subwoofer I just want to add a little bit of depth to technoish type music. I DO NOT want to be that ****ing douchebag rattling windows five cars over. I was thinking maybe a single 8" woofer or something... I would actually prefer that you can't really hear it outside the car. I'm also a total n00b to speakers and whatnot.

Anyone have some reccomendations?

A sub box can make a world of difference. Iv heard 8" subs kick as hard as 12" if not harder.

If you want fidelity over loudness, a 10" or 8" in a sealed box is your best bet. I listen to a lot of house, punk, rock, so I want my bass to be precise. You want to stay with a smaller sub such as a 8" or 10" to be able to manage the quick hits. Generally the bigger the sub, the longer the excursion and the more air it takes to move it.

I'm sorry; there's absolutely no correlation between any of the factors cited above. That's the kindest way I can put it. If you want me to go into detail, I can explain this further.

You should get an amp for the heights and mids and another amp for the sub . Doing that, you can adjust how loud you want everything to be .

Do you have one in an Evo? I'm asking, because I own a 8" powered Bazzoka tube. When the Evo is at speed, it's essentially inaudible.

Loud, as in distinct, identifiable notes? Really?

250w = ~24.5dBw
Driver sensitivity - ~85dB
Evo at speed with a relatively quiet exhaust - ~100dB C-weighted
Dynamic range - 20dB min

Assuming the driver sees peak power all the time, not going to happen, quite a bit of what's left sits below the noise floor. As such, not everything driven by 250 watts can be heard, especially when the driver isn't acting as a distortion generator. Perhaps we have a different definition of 'heard."

Then, there's the second option; you could actually learn something about audio. There's a bit more to it than counting watts.
