Android tablet in evo

You can get a double-din faceplate from japanparts.com
For HVAC relocation.. just get a radio relocation plate and use a dremel to cut the hvac controls down to size
Or you can have this guy hand make you one for $155: http://www.prtc.net/~cjramos54/

Evoscan on Android makes this build a lot more interesting. The tablet they offer is purpose built for evo utility. I am currently working on a full integration
The evo Droid already has the power wiring worked out. So that is one major obsticle that is already taken care of.
For my audio system I wanted to retain the bulk of the functionality that the stereo had. So I bought an Alpine X303 with Blutooth. I will load all my music up to a 32gb micro sd car on the tablet and broadcast the audio via BT to the stereo. Which was moved over to the glove box. The only thing that needs to be done to accomplish this is purchase a antenna extender and then lengthen all wires on the scosche (or whatever brand) pigtail you get to connect to your stock harness. I took a glove box to home depot and had them cut a piece of 1/8th inch wood to fit it. I am using standard buckles to mount it to the glove box cutting a square and using a gm double din and a half install kit to cover up the part of the stereo that extends beyond the wood slightly.
I didn't want to chop shop my glove box so I picked one up from a salvage yard from a base lancer for $5.
One more bit of functionality that I am adding is the app Wyse Pocket Cloud pro. It is $15, but there may be better cheaper ones. It allows you to control a windows or Mac based PC from your cell phone OR Android tablet. I will be using it to control my netbook which is plugged in to ECU+. It also has a solid state drive so no concerns about bumps destroying it.
Having the laptop connected gives me more expandability for music and tuning software not yet android friendly without having to sit it in the front seat.
I will post pictures as it starts coming together. I have already started working on the HVAC relocation, also already have the wires lengthened for the stereo and the piece of wood it is mounting to cut and ready for carpet/paint/ or vinyl depending on what I decide to go with.

You need an aftermarket nav software like Sygic in order to just use the GPS without internet/
I finally ripped out my old CarPC and putting in the Nexus 7. I need one remaining cable for my Bluetooth receiver for the amp and I will be putting everything in. I'll try to post some pics or a video when done.
OK, as promised, here are a couple quick videos. I just popped this in right now, so these are the initial videos...I have to setup a bunch of stuff, but wanted to show how it's installed, and how the startup and shutdown work.
(The videos are pretty hard to see with the bright sunlight, but you get the idea)
Startup
Shutdown
Pertinent info:
Nexus 7
CyanogenMod 10 with Timur USB ROM
RTL2832 USB stick and SDR touch for radio (no data connection needed)
Bluetooth receiver connected to stock amp under driver's seat, providing audio through stock speakers
Torque with BT OBD adapter (waiting for Hamish to release EvoScan Android)
Google apps (navigation, etc)

Here you go.
Keep in mind that if you want to use something like this with the stock Mitsu amp, then you need a Mitah or Mitsamp cable.
