Lightbulb LED Blinker bulbs blink fast ?

I hear that replacing Regular bulbs with LED bulbs require less amps/draw from your battery. This is obviously old news, but has aways stuck in my head and has been appealing since I run a small battery. It would also come in handy for those times you leave your hazard lights on with the car off.

I want to try this out and remembered that one of my buddies back in the Honda days told me that he had to get some sort of resistor change or relay change in order for his blinkers to stop blinking fast. It makes sense electrically because I guess this relay detects the amount of draw when your blinker is on, and will blink with less resistance if there is only one bulb working (for when one of your blinkers is out... your blinker is fast on that side) So since LED's take up almost no resistance, they'd blink fast all the time.

Has anyone done this to their Evo/Lancer? Does anyone know what would need to be done in order to get a proper blinker speed if the bulbs are replaced with LED/SMD bulbs?

Any feedback is much appreciated.

try going to your local auto sound and security shop, ive worked in those shops for over 6-7 years and always have the plenty of resistors and possibly a piggy back built resistor pack that u just wire in line. plus they are use to seeing that common problem weekly. never done that on a evo but have used pre built resistor packs that the shops always had on hand to fix dodge headlamp issues, and a few led blinkers from backyard installers. ive allways just gone with the good old guess and check but im sure some one out their has the same thing with a popper resistance to put in logged already.

Awesome! I will try that out... got an audio shop close by that I think will do the trick. I'll let you know what they say

You'll need to wire a set of 6OHM 50 Watt resistors in parallel to the LED bulbs in order for them to replicate the current draw that the stock incandescent bulbs have. This will negate the effect of running the LED's for energy saving though since with the resistors it will pull the same amount of current.

Heres the resistors you need from SuperDiscountLEDS.com 6 OHM 50W resistor
