Help with my audio setup

I want to upgrade the sound system in my IX. I already have a kenwood nav installed as a new head unit.

I'm thinking about doing the following and I haven't done this before and just want to make sure everything looks right.

Front and Rear Speakers: Rockford Fosgate T165 6.5" (4 Ohm, 70 RMS, 140 MAX)
Component Amp: Rockford Fosgate T400, 400 watt (4 Channel, 2 ohm)
Speaker adapters: http://www.car-speaker-adapters.com/items.php?id=SAK058
Perfect Fit Enclosure: http://www.audiointegrations.net/cat...79/4763874.htm
Sub: RF P2D2 12" (dual 2 ohm, 400 RMS, 800 MAX)
Sub Amp: RF T500-1bdCP 500 watt

I think that about covers it. Looking to put the component amp under the drivers seat and sub amp under the passenger seat so it doesn't take up any trunk space or anything like that. Thanks for the help, I appreciate the input.

The adapters are the right ones and the equipment is fine in terms of fit. Audio-wise, the gear isn't that great for the car. The speakers are relatively insensitive, and the sub even more so. Meaning, you'll be pulling more current from your electrical system for no reason at all. This can be alleviated to some degree by wiring the sub for 4 Ohms - which your installer likely won't recommend due to his ignorance - but you're still much better off choosing more sensitive drivers for this application, which in turn won't need amplifiers as big to produce the same volume levels.

What drivers would you recommend? I just have RF in the X and like how it sounds. I appreciate the help.

In all honesty, I haven't seriously looked at car audio in a few years. There was a Blau woofer I used to recommend, but it's out of production. If you like this system, go for it. My usual suggestion is to use the stock drivers and seal/deaden the doors, with an upgraded HU and amplifier, because it's difficult finding (aftermarket) speakers with similar sensitivity. I suggest this, because at speed, as the car is moving (especially if it's modified), the differences between this and a far more involved install are marginal. Standing still, different story. Ask me how I know.

How do you know? I absolutely agree with not getting rid of the stock fronts. I spent way to much time and money to get an inferior sound out of some Focals. Money thrown in the toilet. Install your HU first and listen to them first so you can remember how good it once sounded.

So would you guys suggest just installing an amp since I already have the head unit? That makes things a lot simpler and cheaper. Don't really want to waste money on what won't make a big difference

Edit: You seem to have read at least some of my stuff and implement the means in your own system. What's with the eye rolling, then?

If you choose the stock speakers route, you need to seal and deaden the doors for best performance. I'd suggest a single 4-channel amplifying the fronts and the sub, and the rears running on HU power.

You may also want to look into getting a more powerful amp. The way I see it is, you need to add the max wattages of your components and coaxials to find out how strong of an amp you need. It's just a safe measure rather than going by rms only. It's better to blow your speakers than your amp.

No. Just no. The wattage rating on speakers are essentially irrelevant. They have no real meaning.
