sub recommendations please *dont merge, it wont get the attention it needs*

before we begin, i have to say i love bass. i like the kind that rumbles your whole body and the floorpan. This is why I chose the sub I have now. My current setup:

Elemental Designs 13av.2, Elemental Designs Vented box and a Soundstream Rubicon rub 1.1600D

this combo does exactly what i want, but my problem is, i have no real room for other things, and its heavy. it weighs in over 100lbs. the sub alone weighed in at 60lbs.

i wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with this type of situation. what i am trying to do is go smaller and lighter without losing too much of the spl's my current combo is producing.

does anyone have any sub recomendations that would fit the bill? smaller box, same monsterous sound, or close to it. i can re-use the amp if i have to

info on the amp:

I'm running one 12" too. Its is an RF Punch Stage 3. Only difference is my box is flush with the tires and I removed my spare. I don't think there is a way to use a less powerful driver and a smaller box and get more sound when you are already using quality components.

it sucks because when i go for a drive and feel the bass i dont want to let it go. it would be nice to use the trunk, not to mention a 100lbs less in the car will make it a bit faster and handle a bit better

the evo was not build for sound systems. your only options are shallow underseat subs, large rear boxes like yours, or side-mount enclosures that fit 8-10" subs

The old car moto "there is no replacement for displacement" still applies to car audio. I hate to say it but I don't think there is no way around it. Maybe a 15 if you love the low low's but then again you are still looking at a large enclosure. I have two addictions as well speed and bass and they just don't mix very well.

Back in the day (1996) my astro van was rocking 4 orions and a opti 50 with a spl of 156.8 (a weighted) and I still crave it but know that's not possible in this ride.

in my rsx i had this setup, and also before this one i had a kicker solo-baric l7 in a massive sealed box. when i took that out the car was much faster.

before the rsx i had a blazer with 4x12 kicker comps, and before those i had two kicker 12" solo-baric l5s.

and my first "real" system was 3x10 blue thunders in a sealed box in the back of my nissan hardbody.

You can just convert your current setup into a sealed box. That will save weight from the wood alone.

A single IDMAX10 can handle your amp, but won't be as loud as your ED.

If you go lighter and smaller, it will be difficult to match your current output.

i really considered the sealed box, but alex from elemental designs said spl would take a serious drop. in a way i wont know till i try it, but it will be an expensive experiment
