Looking to invest in a quality system. Upgrading 05 GSR SSL

So I am looking more for sound quality over hard hitting bass...so I thought I would ask here as most people I know are more into competitions and like rattling their vehicles. What would my first step be into getting a better system than the SSL. I don't mind the sound already but would prefer to have a more crisp sound with around the same bass the stock sub provides.

My other question would be what is a good alarm system? I had the Viper 3203 but it started malfunctioning and had to have it removed. I was thinking of the 5901 but it seems to be a little bit of overkill imo. I don't use the auto start function period so it's pretty useless to me.

I am about to install a DLS (6,5") 2-way kit system in the front doors + a-pillars and 4 small (6,5") DLS RW6 subwoofers in the trunk facing the backseat, everything is powered by a DLS Ultimate A5 amp.
Don't like to much bass, it should sound naturally but with a little more punch.

The rear speakers are still stock and would be powered from the HU, maybe i will change them for a 6,5" Alpine kit i have somewhere...

The HU i will be using is the Kenwood BT92SD.

Cheers

I have been wanting to do the same to my 04 SSL. The previous owner had swapped out the stock amp/sub with an aftermarket but removed it before he sold the car. I've been looking at the JL audio C3 series but not sure what I want to do for sub(s)....maybe 2 8's.

How much is that running you? That sounds like it would sound pretty damn good, as well I was told you have to replace quite a few other things if you replace the HU is that true?

I don't get why people remove the stock sub anyway...no point to just upgrade the sub..

Get yourself an expensive set of components for the fronts and matching coaxs for the rear and a small sub(10" at the very largest). Do it right and power all the speakers and sub with a nice amp all wired individually disregarding the stock wiring.

And google search!!! The Evo community isn't big on sound systems. Ahah. I'm totally with you on the SQ system over a Cadillac escalade type break windows subwoofer thing.

I bought it all on second hand, (about 550€ for everything)
Not including all the cables and stuff... Really hope it will sound good then!!

My car already had a aftermarket pioneer HU so it had ISO cables to the stereo so no need for any cables there. Just 3 rca intervonnects to the amp and power cable from battery..

Honestly, I just can't bring myself to replace the stock speakers. The highs I mean. They sound that good. I have them amplified with an outboard 4 channel amp and a new HU and I replaced the sub with a RF Punch Stage 3 and JL amp, but the highs remain as the last bit of stock components. So much exhaust and tire noise would probably ruin the subtleties a great set of components would bring and I just don't see how a cheap set of seperates (under $200) could be much better then what the stock Infinitys have to offer. YMMV.
