glue the black chip into this and install your remote guts inside, get the key cut then program the key into the car as per the instructions in your owners manual. It's easy I just did it last week. The new key is high quality and works great.

ENJOY!
Thank you for posting this!!

Questions: 1 - The black chip you glue inside the flip key case, does it need to be placed in any particular area such as closest to where it would mate up to the actual ignition? I ask because I'm not well educated on this and want to make sure I get it right the first time. 2 - I'm not certain the condition of my remote guts as the actual remote stopped working on me and I just use the key to lock and unlock (annoying not being able to unlock all doors for wife and baby without having to unlock from the inside). Do the ebay key fobs (2 button) work for our evos? If so, I'd buy one and then transfer it into the newer flip key.

Any insight would be appreciated!

THANK YOU AGAIN FOR SHARING THIS!

So you glued the immobilizer chip into the switchblade key? Where? Did you have to take apart the switchblade key to glue it in? Why did you install your key fob guts into the switchblade, cant you just reprogram the new fob without transferring the guts from old fob?

yes just glue the chip from the ebay key into the new flip key case. Its very small and very easy to do. The new flip key fob does not come with guts. You must use the guts from one of your remotes.

got it, so technically you do not need to purchase the transponder key from ebay, you can just take the transponder from an original key for the switchblade. correct?

Does anyone know specs for our key internals? I ask because of http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Replacement-Uncut-Ignition-Chipped-Key-Blank-4C-Transponder-Chip-For-H72-PT-/171456182624?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item27eb95b960&vxp=mtr and it makes me wonder about compatibility.
The one linked in the thread wants 20$ shipping to Canada. For a Key. That's madness.

Not to sound like a noob, so I don't need to pay dealer 90$ for a new key?

You programmed the lock/unlock with the instructions in the owner's manual or you programmed the actual immobilizer with instructions in the manual? I was under the impression only dealerships can program the immobilizer transponder.

Great thread! Do the guts from our original, 2 button remote fit perfectly into the new remote/key? Any mods needed? Thanks!

They fit directly into the key. Only mod needed is cutting the immobilizer out of your old key and glue it into the new one.
