help please electrical....

so the issue i'm having is that my radio and clock started going out. i drive a 05 evo mr and it has the stock voltmeter gauge. i see it going between 10-12 volts and then it just dies out. i've replaced the battery and alternator already since they were both bad. i checked all the fuses under the hood and on the inside. but the weird thing is, is that my radio and clock are the only things that are not working. if i see the gauge jump back up to around 12 volts then they would come back on. i'm not sure where else to look. any ideas out there? everything else electrical works. it's just those 2 things.

Check the voltage at the battery with the car running.

From what you have described, it appears that the problem could be a loose wire behind the dash. I would begin by removing the gauge pod and checking the connections. The clock is a three pin connector, so the problem is NOT likely to be there. Is there an aftermarket radio in your car? If so, that would be another area i would inspect. Seeing as how the problem is not affecting the rest of the car and the way it runs the problem is only skin deep and you should be able to trace it without having to rip the dash totally apart.

with it on i get 14.67 and when i rev it stays about the same. bounces from 14.66-14.67. that's with ac, defroster, lights and whatever else i could turn on.

Yah so your electrical system is good. Next i would verify voltage at the radio fuse. If that looks good its time to pull out the radio. Im not sure where those gauges tap into the voltage but my guess is the clock radio and voltage gauge are all on the same circuit.

yeah it's the stock mr gauges so it taps right into the harness. not sure how i'm suppose to check th voltage at the radio fuse though. but i did pull out my radio before and unplugged the harness. still didn't get anything.

you need to pull the radio fuse and use one of the probes on your multimeter to check the hot side. If you see good voltage there then check voltage at the radio harness. If you radio is aftermarket it will be the red wire in the harness. The idea is to test each section untill you find a bad point and trace it back from there. Also try a new radio fuse, sometimes they go bad and you cant even see it when looking at it. You can do a continuity test on the fuse with your meter, but i would just say swap in a new one to save the time.

are you talking about the radio fuse from the engine bay or from the kick panel?

so the voltage for under the hood and in the kick panel is about 12.14-12.45 volts. tested the the harness for radio and not getting a reading from that. also there are times when the voltage does kick back up to around 12-14 volts on the volt gauge and that's when i can see my clock and radio come on. then after a few secs it would sink back down to 10 volts and fade away.

so your problem is somewhere between that harness pigtail and the fuse in the kick. Start tracing the harness back and look for signs of trouble.

ok so i found out the problem is at the kick panel and there is corrosion present. does anyone know where to get the terminal pins for the c-129 connector? i can't seem to find any part number for it and also tried local automotive shops around my area too. i have 4 wires that pretty much are done for.
