Evo 7 security and anti theft help?
Hey Guys,
Just bought a Evo 7 from japan and it will be arriving here in Canada soon!
I have already planned out some basic mods I will be doing when I get the car.
I have been looking around at different ways to prevent theft, I am thinking about doing a Fuel pump kill switch, I have searched the forums a bit a haven't found a complete guide for doing one.
Can anyone give me a guide to do one? a proper one with a relay would be best!
Thanks,
Shane

the problem with writing a guide is that once its on the public internet its worthless as an anti-theft measure. Because if you use it as a guide then anyone else who has read it will know exactly how to defeat your setup. The real security comes from the creativity involved in planning where/how you will implement the kill switch, and the fewer people who know about it the better.
I know that I could just take it to someone else to do, however that's not what I want to do, I want to do this myself, Lojack has not expanded into Canada yet also, and of course im going to insure it, however the point here is to stop the theft in the first place. as for the guide, I have seen them done before for things like civics, im not asking to see where they put the switch I just want to see how the wiring goes, what relay to use, what type of inline fuse is used and so on.
you dont need a relay or fuses, a simple switch is all thats required. Now disclaimer my anti-theft strategy doesn't involve the fuel pump, but if i was going to kill the fuel pump i would do it by interrupting the circuit by splicing the wire coming from the ecu to the primary fuel pump relay. This circuit has basically no current on it and would be very difficult to trace (depending on where you splice into it) out if someone was trying to steal your car.
yah thats why you go for the relay trigger instead of interrupting the actual high current circuit. The only current the switch will see are the milliamps necessary to energize the coil in the relay.
