Replacement speakers

When my Evo was brand new the stock radio & speakers had very nice, crisp sound, naturally sound quality degraded with the years. Since I had liked the original sound, I purchased OEM replacement speakers from the dealership @ $80 per speaker, unfortunately the new oem speakers sound is bad & choppy when high bass music is played, I suspect they had 'dried out' in storage at the dealership. So can you guys recommend replacement speakers, something with high quality sound & crisp bass? I don't care for high volume & I'm not about to replace the oem radio or install an amplifier & a subwoofer, I just need nice sounding replacement speakers.

Have a look at Jaycar Electronic at their 6.5 inch response Kevlar speaker
I have one in each door and for an inexpensive speaker , I'm extremely impressed.
The sound from them is more then loud enough to make you go deaf and the sound quality is extremely impressive.
I dropped in a pair of one in Peerless 80WRMS tweeters to match the 80WRMS Kevlar speaker from Jaycar and the sounds stage is extremely impressive.
If your looking to put in an aftermarket amp down the track , highly recommend a PDX-F6

Looks promising, but they don't seem to have a US branch!
