Downpipe Tie bar clearance

I'm about to get the Helix downpipe and on the downpipe thread it says that it may clear the stock tie bars under the car but it may need spacers...has anyone put on spacers? what do you use, washers or just spacers from home depot or lowes...and about how much longer is safe to extend these bolts...my car is lowered on tanabe springs 1.5 front, 1.0 rear. I just want to get these parts ahead of time so i dont risk driving without the tie bars when i try to install the DP. Thanks

Do you know if it's a Version 1 or Version 2? Some have had fitment issues with the Version 1, but I believe the Version 2 pipe fits better for most. I have no issues that require spacers for the tie bars, and I believe I have the Version 1 downpipe. (I bought it used)

I have the ver 2 pipe I bought from Gruppe-s, and I have no clearance problems.

I have the v. 2 and it bangs on something. I need to get underneath the car and figure out what it is hitting.

I think thats rubbing against the subframe. I think a lot of other 3" dp also does that. Mine also did the samething like you mentioned, but it doesn't bother me. All I did was replace the stock crappy hanger/bushings w/ Kartboy units and that cured the problem. Gotta love those kartboy hangers!

same here, my Helix V2 sits too far to the passenger side & makes contact with the underside of the car, though there is plenty of clearance with the tiebars

Disregard the last question. I just went to http://www.kartboy.com and picked up a set

My V2 Helix DP is hitting the subframe, though it clears the tie bars without a problem. I've recently ordered their high flow cat, so hopefully that'll remedy the problem by pushing the DP up more (the High flow cat is slightly longer).

Also, the Kartboys did not solve the rubbing at all.

We'll see...

my helix downpipe (version 1) just started to make a lot more rubbing noise against the subframe. everytime i rev or downshift you could really hear the vibration inside the cabin when above 4000 rpms. i guess $40 kartboy hangers is the solution?

I think Gruppe-S is now offering free Karboy hanger bushings w/ purchase of Helix Downpipe. Check the vendor thread! I wish I didn't buy mine so early now.. damnit!

Megatron,
since you are local, you should contact Cal about this issue and see what he says. They have plenty of Kartboy hangers in stock! I am sure he will cut you a deal on it!

Good luck!
