The kit could use water/alcohol. I see no reason to mix them. The designer of the kit recommends using just alcohol.

We are working, as I think I said, on a new kit that is going to use the factory intercooler spray tank. This will make the factory intercooler sprayer no longer work, but will make for a larger resevoir and for a super clean installation.

I do not have pictures of the controller here, we sold every kit we had in the last 3-4 days.

There are two controllers. The one larger non-progressive controller I started this topic about and the progressive controller. The progressive controller is the size of a cigarette pack on its side, the long side.

Here's the pic of the Buick GN kit. I believe this is the controller Dave is talking about. Saw the same kit used on a Supra the other day:

Stock intercooler sprayer bottle will hold around 1.5 gallons.

The kit is available now, DSMotorsports has one as they said and we have a bunch of them.

I am going to do some testing on our RS with one soon.

Thanks for the response, what failsafe does the kit provide if the nozzle gets clogged or the pump blows?

There is a low alcohol light to let you know if the level drops. I have never heard of a nozzle plugging up, if you keep what it going in clean that shouldn't be a problem. As for the pump blowing, also haven't seen that although it could surely happen. I guess at that point you would be screwed if there was nothing to save you.

With the standalone I set up the knock control very aggressively and it would save you.

Aquamist makes a nice little water flow detector specifically designed for this application. It's not cheap but it could be used to dump boost levels using a solenoid or switch maps in a standalone. But as Dave says, you can also set up some aggressive knock detection measures in a standalone. Belts AND suspenders as they say.

The alcohol kit we sell is SPECIFIC for the EVO, even uses the factory intercooler sprayer bottle and we have had no problems getting by with 25 psi of boost on pump gas with it. It sells for $499 and to be honest I just don't think there is a better system out there.

Too add to this post, I just drove up to Buschur last Thursday and had them install the kit, let's just say it made a huge difference to my *** dyno. These guys know what they are doing, it did not take long to install, then Dave and I jumped into the car and starting tuning. At one time we had the boost up to 27 psi. on 93 that I picked up on the turnpike. I left there with it set at 25 psi, it is a night and day difference, nor more lag from that big *** turbo!! I will say that it does not last long, I think it holds a little over a gallon, we probably made about 30 runs and then I had to fill up, he had Dan set it to come on at 18 psi, that way I would not be running around town spraying all the time. I pick up the alki at a local Sunoco station for like $2.50 a gallon. I especially like where the control unit is installed in the change holder, so unless I tell you, you have no idea it is there. All in all, I say it was well worth the money, for those of you that can not always source the race gas, this is the cheapest solution in my opinion. The only part that sucks is that Buschur is 6 hours drive away from me (and thats doing 85mph), the only miles I have on the car are from going up there!!

Would it be worth it to install this on an evo with the stock turbo? Can the stock turbo support boost higher than 21-22psi? I'm assuming the stock turbo is pretty ineffecient at that psi, but if the alcohol can cool it back down and the turbo can actually make that much psi to redline..... ?

Thanks for the post Bob, I appreciate it. Glad to hear your happy with the car.

Yes, the alky kit will make big gains on the stock turbo also. I am going to do some testing coming up here on the RS with it actually and see what kind of power levels I can get with 94 in it and the alky.

The stock turbo can make high boost levels but they will eventually fall off as the rpm climbs. I have done a couple of these kits on the stock turbo cars and the gains were pretty crazy. You end up eliminating the retarded timing from knock, adds a bunch of the power from that, then you have the extra boost on top of that.

Installation is pretty easy. You have to install the spray nozzle in the upper i/c pipe, so a hole will have to be drilled in it. Then the wires are run inside and you have a hot and ground. The bottle replaces the factory i/c spray bottle.
