If I am picturing it right, it all depends on where the bolt snapped at the shank. Could you take the valve cover back off and grip the shank with some vise grips, or is it broken off inside the head portion? If it's in the head, you will have to eazy out the shank. You can get them at Sears.

Thanks guys for the fast *** response. I was just tightening my valve cover and all of a sudden snap!!!. I haven't took valve cover off yet to see if i can get a hold of the thread either. I am about to go out with some friends and am wondering if its still safe to drive. Well I guess i'm gonna have to check it tommorow.

NP. As far as ok to drive, start the motor and see if it starts leaking. If it doesn't take it around the block and boost it a few times, and do the same. If no leak, you should be ok. I imagine if it starts leaking, you will smell it as well.

Yeah i took it around the block and it's still boosting 19 to redline. Other than that i didn't smell anything either. But to play it safe i shouldn't procrastinate on fixing it. I will go to sears tommorow and fix it. I hope the dealer has these bolts in stock. Oh and also. How many pounds do i screw these bolts down. Anyone?

Same crap happen to me. I remove the valve cover and was able to unscrew the snap bolt on the block with my hand.

Good luck and it does suck!!!

Good luck man. I'm surprised the head didn't strip out before the bolt snapped. The torque spec for those bolts is really, really low: 31 in-lbs. (ie, less than 3 ft-lbs)
