Those with HKS RS Intake and NO problems

I'm planning on installing this thing soon and I was wondering if those of you that do have this intake could help me out here.....

When I install it, is there anything in particular that I need to do to ensure I won't get any CEL or stalling issues? I plan on being extremely careful when I handle the MAF and all the other parts/pieces associated with an intake. I also plan on triple checking all connections and resetting the ECU and letting the car idle for about 20-30 minutes after the installation. Maybe after running it 2 days, rechecking all connections once again.

When I installed an Injen intake on my IS300, I got a CEL. All I did to alleviate that was check all connections again, one was loose, and reset the ECU and let it idle a good 20-30 minutes. After that, there were no more issues with a CEL and the Lex ran fine for 35,000 miles and 2.5 years after that.

No its pretty straight foward. Nothing special to do. Just make sure that everything is nice and snug thats all. Also remember the filter has to be changed very often otherwise you lose power and filtration capabilities
The filter cannot be cleaned like a k&n type

Yeah, I've already ordered extra filters.....

How long have you been running yours? You haven't had any problems at all with it?

The install is pretty strait forward. If your running a stock intake box becareful when you unbolt the MAS fro it. The nuts are really tight and will more than likely break the the plastic part that holds the bolts for the MAS. (you'll see what I'm talking about, once you get in there). Other than that you should have no problems.

oh yea I've been running one since may with no problems at all. Just a great sound.

Mine was pretty easy aswell, the only hard part was to get the god damn clamp off the turbo and the stock maf pipe. Other than that its perfect, no stalling or CEL lights. How often do you guys change your filters tho and where'd you order the extra ones?

I think you're supposed to change the filter every 4-5k miles? That's what I've heard. I found replacement filters at Lancer Shop. I've heard they're even cheaper on eBay. I haven't seen any on eBay yet, though...

Yeah, i've heard about 5k miles per filter. I know z1 has a pack of them for 100+shipping. As for ebay I searched HKS filter and it comes up with a ton of e filters but they don't look like the regular one that I have now.

Here is one of the filters that comes up:

Another one?

If Gruppe-S carries replacement filters, I'll definitely order from them.

Sleet, I wouldn't get those filters that you saw on eBay.

I would stay with genuine HKS filters. Although, switching to the APEXi power filter like Jimbo did sounds interesting.

So, back to my original question, as long as I install everything carefully and according to the instructions, I shouldn't encounter any issues? I'm still wondering because I've seen a lot of negative stuff said about all intakes, including the HKS RS.

One thing to do is check the drawings in the Japanese instructions as well as the English ones. I got more out of the drawings on the Japanese instructions than I did from the horribly written English instructions. And as stated earlier, watch the bolts when taking the MAF off of the airbox.

I have not had any problems with my RS installation. Seems that there is a bit less low end and a bit more up high and I need to get a flash or piggyback or something that I have not decided on yet so that will probably make all the difference.

Same here. The hardest part was getting to the screw for the clamp that holds the stock pipe to the turbo. Mine was turned away. You have to have freaking tiny hands to get to it...it was like some Japanese torture chamber set up by whoever put it on in the first place at the factory.
