Here are some rough measurements I took of the Helix housing before I put it on:

Turbo exhaust gas outlet ID: about 2.5"

O2 Housing outlet to downpipe ID: about 2.4" (a little bigger than stock)

The Helix did not come with any gaskets, but the flanges are the same as stock, so you can use the donut gasket for the stock downpipe if needed. I would actually prefer a flat gasket since I'm running the Buschur downpipe which has a flat flange to meet up with the O2 housing. Does the Megan Racing housing come with a flat downpipe gasket? (it kinda looks like it from the picture)

That's on me, I was thinking about the similarities in the merge while looking at the Megan pricing on the Ebay store... it will happen to you too when old age sets in.

Well if that’s all I need (nothing) to make up a fact then your comments are crap. See that doesn’t work out very well does it? I have been to M.R.(yeah in person), spoken with there employees and seen there production facility, they use the same materials, tools and techniques as there competitors (Helix included) only offer the parts at a more reasonable price. If that’s not getting what you $$ for and makes something crap then I guess your right…..BTW I also have M.R. lowering springs, DP, and cat back and haven’t had any problems or complaints with any of them. Cheers.
I know this is late, but I just wanted to respond to this. I too have been to Megan Racing, their new facility in Industry, CA. Very pretty building. Now the concern I have is - were you in fact in a factory just south of Shanghai to see Megan's production facilities or did they manufacture in house? I did not see any fabrication going in their warehouse, and to the best of my knowledge Megan does not manufacture in house... So I don't see how the comparison can be made to Helix products. I have actually been to the factory in China manufacturing Megan's downpipes, and I can confidently say that one Panasonic TIG welder used to produce Helix products can purchase the entire 15+ "NewAsia" welders used at the factory manufacturing Megan's products. NewAsia is a Shanghai welding company that produces low end TIG welders for about 7000RMB if anyone's interested. I was actually thinking about purchasing one for the shop, but would definately NOT use one for production line use.

Cheers,

Gary

Ok, you know what you’re talking about. I sand corrected. I would like to thank Gary at Gruppe-S for pointing out this fact, and praise the Panasonic TIG welder used to produce Helix products because it is far superior to M.R. and there 15+ "NewAsia" welders. That must be why it cost more its superior welds I mean look at the parts side by side. Oh and I fixed my first post as not to mislead any one, my bad.

Hey Gary at Gruppe-S, I don't care if they used a match to weld it. The end result is identical and I am in no mood to pay for Helix's higher overhead. All of my Megan products are flawless and they saved me loads of cash which is nice.

It is still a TIG weld! Is anything else suppose to matter? They look similar cost 1/2 as much and work the same. My money will stay with Megan.

...

I respectfully disagree.

I'm not a fabricator, but what I am told by those in the fabrication business is that the type of welding equipment (as well as the welder himself) plays a huge role in both the strength and quality of the welds.

In fact, one of our fabricators here in the United States owns two $6000 Miller welders, but just invested in a $12,000 Miller welder (I personally can't tell the difference except for size) because he stated that for production components he is more comfortable with the more expensive welder. So you guys can be the judge - me personally, I'd rather have my components welded with the $12,000 welder thant he $6K.

Of course I do have an angle here as we are one of the US Distributors for Helix products. But I have every reason to believe that Helix products are far superior than many other brands in terms of both build and material quality, and is a great bargain for the price.

Not saying Megan products cannot do their job - I'm sure that can, but I personal prefer Helix products in both design and build quality. That being said, I'm really only responding because there is some mis-information out there - Helix products are NOT made in the same factory as Megan!! That's all I'm trying to say.

Cheers,

Gary

They are definitely not manufactured in the same "house" says I, having a manufacturing background, and seeing the two with my own eyes. However, I will say that thus far, I believe even with quality with-standing, that Megan is the best of the two in bang for the buck at the current pricing. It does appear to me that the Helix products are of slightly better quality... just not enough so to spend the extra money on.

I would go so far to say that the Helix system is the top of the line in my spending on some tubes and a muffler though. I absolutely refuse to spend the outrageous amounts of money on these "JDM type" systems that are of no better quality, nor performance than the Helix.
