So can your Evo, if you setup an antilag system via standalone.

Don't ask me how I know this and holy hell, is it loud!

its easy (haha), all the standalone dose is set the timimg back so it fires when the exhaust valves are open. then the fuel air mixture (still pump in fuel) that has left the cylinders is ignited in the space between the vavles and the turbine (you need to set the timing so the valves are just starting to close). so you have a BIG bang in a very small space causing loads of presure and driving the trubo.

problem is these big bangs are like hitting the turbine with a hammer, but rally guys dont mind forking out for new blowers after each event!

thanks Chris.

Actually, it isn't quite that easy. You need an air bypass to get anti-lag while the throttle is closed. Fuel without air will not burn.

shape mate, the group N guys over here do it just fine with their stock (yeah right) EVOs. i think there is enough air flow when the throttle is closed. alternativly, you could just flat shift and set the ECU up to soft limit when the clutch is pressed.

the best Anti-lag system i have seen was on a Ford RS200 EVO2. that wented to boosted cold air into the exhaust, to help the turbo along, then when you realy wanted it you could turn the conventional anti lag on! so you cot loads of cold air and fuel in the exhaust mani, and a very big BANG. hey presto, NO lag.

i would still go for a supercharger and turbo though!

Chris.

How can there be airflow with the throttle closed?

The pre Evo VIII's had a bypass valve installed on them with metal lines running to the exhaust manifold. That is the reason for the big stubs of metal between cylinders 1&2 and 3&4 on the exhaust manifold. Those are the bosses for the air lines going to the exhaust manifold for the anti-lag. The anti-lag just wasn't turned on in the ECU. Perhaps the group N guys have it turned on?

Is that what all the mis-firing and backfiring is all about?

noob dream motor:

-2.0l, I4

-direct fuel injection

-electric servo actuated variable valve timing

-dry sump lubrication.

-individual coil packs

i would just add a few things wingless,

BIG bore/short stroke 2.0ltr I4 (with room for a long throw crank when you need to mod)

Ti rods.

forged pistons, or VERY well made cast.

coated chambers

4 vales per cylinder with air valves.

super strong ally block and head with through bolts for ultamate strength while keeping weight down.

equal length cast or tube manifold, coaded inside and out.

and as above

thanks Chris.

They need to improve the 4G63 w/o complicating the after marker tuning possibilies.

I agree with dry sump lubrication, improved ignition, and direct injection.

Dry sump allows lower in the engine mass, but increases the manufacturing costs.

Improved ignition improves the current EVO and appears in their competitor's new models.

Direct injection is the future. Mitsubishi has been working on this since the 1990's. BMW is using it in the new M5. Check out this Mitsubishi direct injection site, http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/i...GDI/page5.html

all we need is a bump in displacement, 2.5L would cure our power woes
