leave the damn thing alone! we have the strongest production 4 cylinder in the world, if you need it any stronger just build it up. Mitsu can kick back on developing a new engine and focus more on drivetrain and engine management reliability and warranty. keep the quality up, but focus more on volume so that costs can go down.

I think they should start thinking about direct injection and coil on plug ignition set up. If they changed everything in one year they wouldn't have much to change the next year so I say give it to us a little at a time. I believe the IX will have variable timing on intake and exhaust valves, that's a start.

Alright, alright...

Its time for the mods to make this thread a sticky.

It will never die.

This thread is becoming archaic.

Why change the motor w/ gimmicky stuff when Mitsu is conservative? If Mitsu isn't conservative, show me how the company isn't? If so, how come the cyclone intake mani wan't dumped into the Evo motor yet? Hell, the technology has placed on past G63T and modern pacific rim Mitsu w/ a 4g15. Don't know what's a cyclone intake mani, ask other DSM'ers how long it has been around for the G63T.

Another thought, how come the FQ Evos haven't arrived in America? Mitsu already know niche models like the FQ ranging from 42 to 95 (price on the FQ-400) USD will never fly in America. Now, will any current drivers trade their Evo and buy a +90 grand FQ-400 if it was on American soil? The numbers would be so PALTRY, and Mitsu isn't going to even try it. Now, this is CONSERVATIVE!

Basically, the current G63T isn't broke. Why even try gimmicky stuff and cause it to break? Look around the board on how many Evo drivers here are toasting their cars and getting denial of warranty and nagging like a mad woman.

I agree with this statement. why change it. it is extremely tuner friendly. there is not one boxer engine out there that is easy to work on.
the 4G63 has evolved from its inception, though not by alot, my 90 talon tsi was very basic and raw. the new 4G63 is quite technical. it hasnt changed as much as other motors from other companies because it hasnt needed to. very few 2.0l motors can pull 500+ hp on a stock block.

im sad to see it go but mitsu is obiously going in a different direction with the new 10 maybe to get out from the tuner side of things and become more of an exotic.

Just my opinion.

The 4G63 is wonderful engine. I do appreciate the subtle changes (ie: IX) inclouding the improved cooling passages in the head and the MIVEC, but the engine itself is a beast.

If it isn't broke - dont fix it.

btw: My cousin is trying to get a Lotus Exige minus the toyota powerplant so he can drop in the 4G63.
