How to achieve a 94 Octane tank via 91 Pump
How do you achieve a 94 Octane tank via 91 Pump gas?
What is the correct formula if you mix 91 with 100 race gas?
I want to get a full tank of gas resulting in a 91 and 100 race gas mix.
What is the ratio?
8 Gallons of 91 mix it with 5 Gallons of 100 Race gas?
Will this result in a 94 Octane rating?

Mathematically, you can use this formula to equate the ratio of 91 vs. 100 octane you need to get an equivalent of 94 octane in your tank.
91X + 100Y = (X+Y)94
where X = # of gallons of 91 octane
where Y = # of gallons of 100 octane
The ratio you end up with is X/Y = 2/1.
So you just need to fill up 1 gallon of 100 octane for every 2 gallons of 91 octane to get 94 octane. This is assuming the octanes mix linearly.
91X + 100Y = (X+Y)94

How much do you think the prices are for a gallon of 100 race gas?

Wow, 23psi on 91 octane seems pretty high. Is your car tuned to run that much boost on 91 octane? I hope you have an EGT gauge or some sort of way to monitor knock.
I haven't bought race gas in a few years, but when I did, it used to cost $6-7 per gallon.

Hope you're not doing this everytime you fill up your tank cause in the long run it would be better to invest in a new turbo kit ($2000) or a water injection ($900) imo.
For me with the amount of miles I drive, it would cost me about $1100 a year to mix gases everytime I go to fill up.

((91*9)+(100*5)) / 14 = 94.21 gallons
You would need approx. 5 gallons of 100 octane to get a 94 octane mix.
I have used 110 octane leaded before, which boosts the octane even more. I had a 98 octane mix in the tank and I turned the boost up to 23psi.
91 **** gas is so crappy!

Gasoline companies are just raping Californians. Not only do we pay the most expensive gas in the country but they only give us the crap 91 octane while some other states get the 93 and pay less.
I wouldn't mind paying the highest gas price in the country but give us 93 or 94 octane.

Is it illegal for stations to sell higher than 91 in California? Seems like there's a huge business opportunity there to sell pump 93 imported from out of state as cheap "race gas." Buy it for $2.00 a gallon in the next state over and then sell it for the going price of 91 in CA plus maybe a dollar ($3.75?). There must be something illegal about doing that. Otherwise, I'm moving to CA and opening up a gas station
I think it's a State mandate that we only get 91 octane and gas companies charge a higher price because we have add all those great additives to make our gas more healthy (MTSBE / Ethonal / etc.).
I'm sure they're not slow to inflate prices when possible. I'm also sure the State is not doing a good job in making them be more price competitive - something along the lines of "We're one of the biggest (if not biggest) users of automobiles and therefor gas. If you'd like to do business in our State, you need to use the folowing octane formula, include the following additives and not charge more than the average price per gallon of the other forty none states."
Seems so simple, doesn't it?
