Just installed ACT clutch. Now chatter and pedal vibration!
I just had my clutch replaced 2 days ago with an ACT HD pressure plate and street disk. The first thing I noticed is that as soon as my foot touches the clutch pedal, there is vibration right up until the clutch is disengaged. The other thing I noticed is that there was tons of chatter and I had to rev it almost to 2K rpm to get it to even start out without shaking the car. Well I put about 200 easy miles on the clutch and the chatter is still there, but it's not as bad. The vibration hasn't gone away though.
Anyone know what is wrong, if anything, and what should be done to correct it? Please only professionals or people with first hand experience with this problem, I don't want a thread full of guesses
Thanks!

i just got the act install last week.i only put about 150 miles on it so far.the pedal vibrants a little when first engage.i also thought i hear some chatting but i think i'm triping.hope this shaking of the pedal goes away.bump for same question
I was using the act for a while, however i used the 4 puck
Chatter and vibration were the worste ive ever heard
drivability of the clutch sucked
lead to the destruction of my transfer case
conclusion: get the best clutch you can, supersoft on your driveline is the best way to go......besides, you have enough traction

I contacted ACT's tech support, as well as having the clutch shop inspect my car.
ACT said the chatter should subside with time. They were confused about the pedal vibration, and said maybe it's torrisional? vibration. They said so long as the shop torqued the bolts down correctly in the correct pattern, I probably have nothing to worry about.
The clutch shop said I probably just have to change my shifting habits to avoid the chatter (slightly higher rpms from starting). They said all my motor/tranny mounts were fine, and if ACT didn't think there was anything wrong, then it should be fine. I'm going to consider this problem as solved unless I have more trouble down the road.
Thanks for the input!

I've used ACT in the past with Honda/Acura's. Never get racing clutch's on stock tranny. I've blown many trannies with ACT. I personally think chattering is a norm for ACT clutch's.

If you are also having disengagment problems that cannot seem to adjust out at the pedal I would be even more suspicious.
Thanks for the input, that's why I went with ACT. It is a very rare company indeed that is going to have the president posting on your thread when there is a problem
