BUSCHUR, AMS very Important 2.4 block
Now that I have your attention....since you guys seem to be "The" guys with mitsubishi motors and make the most sense and horsepower..
...Please give us your input on the 2.4 liter motor 4G64...I like the idea of strokers and was considering doing my bottom end if i should ever blow mine (I did mine just not a stroker)..would it make more sense to use the 4g64 motor? Stroke that to maybe 2.7, 2.8 liters? if possibel i dont know...is there enough time workign with those motors to make sense of these conversions? is it worth it? or do u feel the Jun kits or whichever are better? Any plans for any of the vendors to offer anything for this 2.4? Everyone on these boards values the opinions of the vendors....let us know what u think

RNR Racing is doing a 2.4 block swap with Evo head. I believe they have yet to really turn up the boost on the swap to see what the max the motor will put out.

Stay with a 2.0L or go with a reputable 2.3 stroker kit. We make a stroker kit along with other companies. You cannot go bigger than 2.4 unless you have a lot of cash to spend and want to have a custom crank made and start opening the bore and crossing your fingers you don't split the cylinder walls. Also the 2.4 wil have an inherent problem in a certain area if not addressed correctly. Look at what the top EVO VIII's run, all 2.0L, Turbotrix, AMS, Dynoflash, Chris Belshaw, ect...

Further Explanation?

Martin - Can you provide a little more detail on this? Are you referring too the head on the on the 4g64? Also, does the 4g64 have the same oil & cooling passages as the 4g63 has? What are differences between the two blocks other than bore & deck clearance.
Your input would be appreciated.

Pesto, since you have an open budget, consider the Crower Billet Alluminum 2.3L Crank. It's essentially a billet version of the Mitsubishi 4G64 crank. And if your going for a stroker go with the 2.3 instead of the 2.2 of the JUN kit (@ $6000).
ah... I will let the guys selling the 2.4L conversion figure it out. I'd wait and see once they have a 2.4L going fast, making big horsepower and more importantly doing it day in and day out without issues.

Making 630whp and 610 ftlbs of torque everyday for the a while now. We have been running this same motor for somewhere around 6-8 months everyday. Please don't start some myths because you are not using the 2.4. We are also reving this motor to 8500rpm without any problems. We have never blown a head gasket or anything else for that matter. We have built several of these for street cars and they are all holding up just fine.

I'm not starting rumors. I just said there could be some small issues to work out. What head gasket are you using? I've used the 2.4L and actually we're using that motor in our EVO outlaw car. 630whp and 610ft-lbs of torque (I'm assuming at the wheels also), what boost was that at. Another question for you, that 10.6 you have in your sig, is that on your shop car?
We are using a metal Mistu head gasket. I know you made metion of a head gasket before, but we have never had a problem. We made 630whp and 610 ftlbs of torque at 30psi on a Dyno Dynamics dyno.
We will be turning the boost up to 35psi. It is actually a pretty basic set up. Once we get the RPS twin carbon and TRE trans in the car we should be ready. We are shooting for 700whp on the GT35R kit. The signature is of the customers car we built. He shooting for 9's now with a bulletproof driveline.

We are running the ACT clutch(street disc). I think it suppost like 400ft lbs of torque. Actually for a little while until we tried to take it to NHRA this weekend it ended up slipping bad.

Ditto....
The stroker kits we have just released are $2200 retail. They use the stock 4g63 block, a new 2.4 liter crank, forged rods, main and rod bearings, rings and J&E pistons.
I agree with Martin on the 2.4 block and day-in-day-out reliability. Hell I haven't even convinced myself on the stroked 2.0 liter engines yet. In the past I had nothing but problems with them. Looking back we were doing some things "wrong" at the time though. With all the re-designing we have done on these new kits I am hoping for some good things to come from it.
As for who's kit is the best, hard to say. I have seen the 2.4 cranks go close well over 850 flywheel horsepower, not sure on longevity at those numbers though.
The Toda kit, as we bought one, is a light duty piece in my mind. The stock 2.4 rods being the limiting factor.

im gonna plan my next bottom end and have it built and waiting before i blow this one...Im putting 502 to the wheels now...and its an absolute pisser..i smile everywhere i drive it...I wont even drive anything else anymore...but i just blew a head gasket so ...looks like my *** wont be rubbing those recaros for a while...So is the general consensus to go with a 2.3 stroker? does anyone have a block and everythign ready to go? I dont have one to trade...any input on head gasket? My car was tuned on the stock one...the 1.2 hks may lessen my compression...works fine now on 30 psi...any ideas?
