bad day at dragstrip

my best 1/4 mile time thus far for me evo has been 13.1 with intake/downpipe/exhaust/ works p2 flash.

since then i have put on a hi-flo cat, 264/264 hks cams, fuel pump, injectors, and cam gears but still UNTUNED. and today i hit a 13.6, 14.1, and 13.8 at the track. my 13.6 run was with a 1.946 60ft. my 14.1 was because my weak *** new falken ziex tires started spinning in 1st gear.

what the hell is going on? i guess i am in desperate need for a fuel management system and a boost controller. but how i dont understand why im running this bad.

with all those mods put on and without tuning, you are luck that your car still run.

I believe everybody in this board knows that TUNING is the only way to make power.

On a side note...your running way to rich.

You can't just throw parts together and expect the ecu to somehow magically tune the car for you.

Get together w/ a reputable tuner in your area and have the car dynotuned, if possible.
You need an AEM EMS,Xede or some other form of engine management.

BTW
Since you're in the Bay Area give Vishnu a call and they will hook you up.
Trust me.

Just sticking in large injectors alone without any means of recalibration is a huge mistake. The ECU doesn't know the injectors are a larger capacity, and the car will just run rich. The ECU will try to compensate, but it has limitations and that won't be enough. This is just the beginning, as each part you've added has contributed to the nightmare.

Just remember that there is nothing more important than a competent, thorough recalibration, regardless of what you do or don't do to mod the car.

Go back to WORKS and have them load a different flash onto your ECU.

WORKS said that their 269 cam flash may not work with my 264's. right now i dont have enough for a AEM EMS which is what has been holding me back from getting my car tuned. plus i still need to put in my valve springs and retainers. i guess ill have to settle for a possible dynoflash or safcii, or both. damn this car game is expensive.

You absolutely do not need an AEM EMS, period.

If you want to take the cheap seats route, get a Dynoflash. No, it won't be tweaked to the hilt, but it WILL run better than the mess that it is presently.

If you can do a bit better, take a trip down to Pleasanton, CA, spend a bit to get an Xede, and have it dyno tuned. You won't believe the difference.

Of course not. It will work with everything you have - and rather nicely at that.

If you're looking at going the XEDE route, it's going to cost you $1k+.

Had you gone w/ the WORKS 269 cams, it would have came w/ a complementary flash you would have been done w/ the tuning aspect of your mods by now.

If you yank out the hks cams, injectors, fuel pump, and sell them, and then get the 269 cams w/ flash, it'll probably be the most cost effective route if you do all the work yourself. But this will mean downtime for your car.
