Your flywheel is ruined. If you have no mods you might luck out like I did. I took my car in for the TSB on the 5th syncro and aksed if they would go ahead and replace my clutch and flywhell.. they are doing it for just one hour labor. I bought The ACT MB7-HDSS set (pressure plate, disk, and throw out) for $479.97 and the Fidanza light weight f/w for $350.00. You need a stronger clutch than the one I bought if you are going to race your car on the strip (I just road my car). Check out the deal at RRE, and get with your dealer on the TSB on the 5th gear syncro sleeve.. (just tell them it grinds going into 5th). Good Luck

Look to see if there are any burnt marks on them. The burn marks should be black and as big as 4 quarters. Look for any cracks and dents, etc. LOOk for the same stuffs on the pressure plate. If any of those existed, then the clutch is used and abused the crap out of.

i already know how to drive stick -

- but when it comes to launching it at the track , thats a different ball game

-is a carbon fiber clutch really worth its price tag?

The burn marks a blue steaks or worse visible on the back side (block side). I just saw mine last thurs. My disk thickness is fine and but I suspect the pressure plate isn't. I had absolutely no slippage other than the three times I smelled it burn and these were not race related. Once was on a steep heooo wiht a stop at the top, onec when I needed to go from feverse to first real qucik in an emergency situation and the other was when I blew it and let a friend drive. My car has 1100 on it now.

If you burn out your clutch at 2k miles, then your flywheel will be glazed over. You might be able to get away w/ resurfacing- i.e. cleaning your flywheel anyway, think of clutch/flywheel like brake pad and rotor-
also if flywheel is glazed, then you might be able to salvage clutch, with a light scuffing of surface as well- i wouldn't do this on such an expensive car though- the above methods are usually for beater cars that you want to just last a little longer- kinda like banging your starter w/ a hammer when it's worn out- just temp until you get a new one.
