you expect the stock ECU to automatically learn the larger turbine and accept it and retune it on its own? it doesnt have to be standalone, but you are going to need to use a piggyback at the least to make use of a larger turbo upgrade. tuning tuning tuning is more important than anything.

I certainly, absolutely, wholeheartedly agree that tuning is more important that anything.

I simply stated that a standalone is not required to put up large power numbers with a large turbo.

EMS could be a piggyback as well. So of course not standalone is not the only option.
Once you start going beyond the capacity of the stock ecu's parameter then exceed a piggyback's, then standalone should be in the near future.

True.

Actually, the shortcoming standard ECU is not the capabilities of the hardware, but the software. The ECU is capable of quite a lot...if programmed specifically to optimize power. Unfortunately, the factory programming leaves a lot to be desired, which is why I repeatedly advise those who are cotemplating a variety of gadgets that without some method of accurate, reliable recalibration, you're heading to a quick dead end.
