Down pipe touching oil pan

How bad is this when the down pipe is touching the Oil pan?

I have this downpipe that someone made and it's touching the oil pan without the heat shield.

Thanks.

I would definitly either replace the downpipe or find a way to get it away from your oil pan. Your EGTs in that area depending on your mods could be around 800 deg F. That pipe is going to be very hot and transfer into your oil pan.

mine wanted to touch at first, A little prying action will fix the prob. Luckily the UR downpipe has the flex in it.

Definitely don't want it touching. It's especially bad if you do any track racing. Can you pry it away a little bit? If you can get enough clearance you could heat-wrap the downpipe to prevent some of the heat transfer.

Good luck.

I have the Apexi 3" downpipe and it fits perfect. The pipe comes with the heat wrapping to keep heat away from the oil pan.Everything fit perfect and like some pipes ,this one doesn't need a different support bar.

Heating the oil = bad. It will break down faster and protect your engine less. Buschur used to have some kind of heat shield or you can get a wrap kit from Summit.
