Which turbo kit to get for 400 HP ????

Damn, ive read a thousand threads about turbo kits and it didnt help one bit. Someone will like what they got and then someone else will rain on their parade. Very annoying. All i want is 400 wheel HP with a UTEC and Revolver 264/262 cams. Smooth idle and spool under 4000rpm. Driven on weekends only with a tank of 100 octane ready to go at all times. Any suggestions??? Ray

Buschur 500

I made 440 to the wheels with mine on a 93 pump gas half tank and 5 gallons of c-16 at 21 psi with 272's, aem, full turboback exhaust, and 680 injectors. I'm selling it too just the turbo, exhaust manifold, and 02 housing for $1,600 if ur interested. At 25 psi on race gas you'll make 400 to the wheels without breaking a sweat.........

I know a few other kits will make that also, I just chimed in about mine which I know worked well from 4k- up.........But I also drove a AMS turbo'd with a similar setup as mine and I'm sure he's also at 400 to the wheels,,,,,,so choices are becoming more by the day.........

AMS 3071

I got the AMS 3076, you don't get full spool until 4000-4200rpm

I would suggest either a 50 trim or GT30R kit w/equal length manifold.

If 400whp (DJ) is your target, and you want to retain spool characteristics that are very close to stock, a 3071 is your turbo. One could reasonably argue that this turbo should have come on the car from the factory. There are several kits that use this turbo, and quite frankly, given the mild nature of this unit and the relatively nominal power level you are after, I'd opt for one of the lesser expensive kits. Where this is concerned, there are at least 2-3 kits in the $2300-2500 range that use this unit or variants thereof.

As to which you choose depends on minor issues. The ATP 3071r kit uses a proprietary hotside housing to give the truest 'bolt-on' characteristics, uses the factory exhaust manifold, and looks dead stock to the uneducated eye. The design of this housing gives up a little ultimate power potential, but this is nothing that will affect you. The RnR 450whp kit uses a aftermarket tubular header (provided), and the Buschur 440 kit uses a aftermarket exhaust manifold (provided). Someone will have to clarify as to the specifics of the RnR and Buschur turbos, as the details are not included in their websites.

I hope this helps narrow things down for you.

If I were you I would search more and more... because there are many threads here about turbo kits. you have the following

1- ATP 3071 comes with full 3" DP looks like stock no manifold is included as the turbo bolts on the stock manifold
2- BR kit comes with manifold that looks like stock NO DP
3- RNR you need to ask them

Whatever you do just dont buy a GT30R off the shelf as it will lag. I have the 3071 ATP on and I am @ full boost at 3700~3800 RPM 24PSI on pump.

I purchased an RnR 60trim turbo kit back in June. The list of things that came with the turbo kit seemed to make it perfect for me so that I didn't have to go out and find everything separately.
